As a Ward Receptionist at The Wesley Hospital, you’ll play an integral role in supporting our clinical teams and ensuring a seamless experience for patients, families and visitors. You’ll be encouraged to grow, develop and feel empowered to make the everyday easier for the people we care so passionately about.

Your part in The Wesley Hospital team

As a Ward Receptionist, you’ll provide essential administrative and clerical support to our nursing and clinical teams across the wards. Acting as the central point of communication, you’ll help facilitate efficient coordination of patient information and services while ensuring a high standard of care and professionalism.

Your role will include:

• Coordinating patient admissions, discharges, and transfers using hospital systems (e.g. Cerner)
• Maintaining accurate patient records, ensuring documentation is completed, filed and scanned correctly
• Liaising with clinical staff to support ward operations and patient flow
• Answering and managing phone enquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Communicating effectively with patients, families, doctors and internal departments
• Supporting administrative tasks including forms, coordination and ward supplies
• Assisting with patient movements, meal coordination and general ward support
• Resolving scheduling issues by liaising with Doctors’ rooms and key stakeholders

What makes a difference for us?

• Certificate III in Business Administration (or similar), or equivalent experience
• Previous administrative experience, ideally within a healthcare or hospital setting
• Sound knowledge of medical terminology (or willingness to learn)
• Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence using computer systems and data entry tools
• A proactive, can-do attitude with a focus on patient care and service
