Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, Platform Commercialization Leader leads development of the Diversified & Value and Lifestyle platform’s overarching commercial strategy. This role translates platform capabilities, market dynamics, client needs, and enterprise priorities into a focused plan for growth. In close partnership with the Growth organization, this role defines ideal client profiles and priority use cases for the platform’s products, identifies the industries and client segments with the greatest opportunity, and establishes a coherent approach for taking products to market. The role also leads the VP, Platform Commercialization - Product and VP, Platform Commercialization - Marketing, ensuring commercial priorities are converted into coordinated adoption strategy and client-ready marketing enablement.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with SI team to develop and maintain platform’s multi-year commercial strategy, including strategic choices, growth priorities, target outcomes, and required capabilities.
- Partner with Growth to develop and refine ideal client profiles, client archetypes, buying signals, priority use cases, and qualification criteria for platform products.
- Create client- and industry-level commercialization strategies that define where to focus, which products and propositions to lead with, and how offerings should be positioned and sequenced.
- Assess market, competitive, client, and portfolio insights to identify whitespace opportunities, adoption barriers, and areas requiring differentiated investment.
- Translate the commercial strategy into a prioritized roadmap for product adoption, marketing enablement, sales/client activation, and measurement.
- Lead cross-functional planning with Platform, Product, Growth, Sales/Client teams, Industry leaders, Marketing, Finance, and Analytics to align priorities, ownership, and execution.
- Set direction and priorities for the Product Strategist and Marketing Strategist; coach the team and ensure their work is integrated against common commercial objectives.
- Develop business cases and executive recommendations for commercialization investments, resource allocation, or go-to-market changes.
- Create governance and operating rhythms to review commercial performance, resolve barriers, and adjust strategy based on market and client feedback.
- Serve as a senior strategic advisor to platform leadership on growth opportunities, commercialization decisions, and portfolio tradeoffs.
- Collaborate with client teams to lead client-facing presentations.
- Influence and guide commercial enablement materials, client-facing messaging, and market-facing communications.

- Clarity and alignment among Platform, Growth, Product, Marketing, and client-facing teams on target clients, industries, propositions, and priorities
- Speed and quality of commercialization decisions and cross-functional execution
- Effectiveness of the strategy team in removing adoption barriers and improving market readiness
- Quality, development, and impact of the Product Strategist and Marketing Strategist
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, strategy, finance, economics, or a related field, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma/GED and 15 years of related experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial strategy, growth strategy, product commercialization, management consulting, go-to-market, or consumer marketing.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.
- People leadership experience, with a track record of setting clear direction and developing high-performing strategic talent.
- Client relationship management, with experience selling in complex ideas or programs.

The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

We’re proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
