Sobre esta vaga de Visiting Professor na Nanyang Technological University
Visiting Professor Position in Physics
Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is committed to excellence in research, education and innovation. The College of Science seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified candidates irrespective of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.
The Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP) in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), NTU, invites applications for a Visiting Professor in Physics, with expertise in strongly correlated electron systems, unconventional superconductivity and quantum materials. The Visiting Professor will collaborate with PAP colleagues on a research programme entitled “Local Control of Emergent Quantum States in Correlated Quantum Materials”. The programme will investigate the feasibility of manipulating electronic ground states locally through spatially varying strain fields generated by surface acoustic waves or standing ultrasonic modes. Particular attention will be given to materials near bandwidth-controlled Mott transitions. The research will explore whether dynamically generated strain can provide a means of controlling correlated electronic phases and studying phase coexistence and non-equilibrium phenomena. A complementary research direction will consider the manipulation and dynamics of topological defects under electrical current pulses, strain fields and related perturbations. Through scientific discussions and collaborative planning, the Visiting Professor will help assess the feasibility of these approaches, identify promising experimental directions and develop opportunities for sustained research collaboration.
The Visiting Professor will also contribute to the academic life of SPMS through one or two research seminars on topics related to his research expertise, as well as discussions with faculty members and research students.
Requirements
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline and have an internationally recognised record of research in condensed matter physics, particularly in strongly correlated electron systems, unconventional superconductivity, quantum criticality or related areas of quantum materials. A strong record of original research contributions, publications in leading international journals, and experience in developing and leading collaborative research programmes are expected.
Experience in low-temperature transport measurements, high-pressure studies, magnetic or electronic phase transitions, and the investigation of emergent quantum states would be particularly relevant to the proposed programme.
Enquiries about the position may be directed to the Division of Physics and Applied Physics, SPMS, NTU. Contact details will be provided by the School.
Applications will be considered in accordance with NTU's recruitment procedures. All applications and materials submitted will be held in strict confidence. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
