Position Summary

Dallas College seeks an experienced, innovative, and highly collaborative academic leader to serve as the Vice Provost, School of Manufacturing & Industrial Technology. Reporting to the Provost, the Vice Provost will provide strategic leadership for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of credit-hour programs within the School while advancing academic quality, faculty excellence, student success, workforce alignment, and community impact.

The Vice Provost will serve as an advocate for students, faculty, instructors, local business and industry partners, while assisting and advising the Provost in matters related to professional and technical education. This leader will also actively engage with community and employer partners to create new partnerships, responsive programs, and revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

The Vice Provost provides executive-level leadership for the School of Manufacturing & Industrial Technology and is responsible for academic quality, strategic growth, faculty leadership, student outcomes, program effectiveness, and external partnerships.

Academic Leadership & Strategy

• Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of credit-hour programs within the School of Manufacturing & Industrial Technology.

• Ensure academic excellence through curriculum quality, assessment, instructional effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

• Develop and maintain student pathways and degree maps to ensure students can access the courses and programs needed to reach economic security and success.

• Align course offerings and scheduling across the institution to promote student success, effectiveness, and efficiency.

• Ensure excellence of curriculum and offerings through benchmarking, assessment, and review of school and community needs.

Faculty & Academic Leadership

• Oversee faculty managers and academic managers, including responsibilities related to curriculum, student learning outcomes and assessment, tutoring and supplemental academic support, instruction, and faculty professional development.

• Provide leadership for faculty evaluation, instructional quality, and academic staff effectiveness.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and student-centered teaching.

• Support faculty recruitment, engagement, development, and continuous improvement efforts.

Student Success

• Champion academic pathways that support completion, transfer, employment, and economic mobility.

• Coordinate with Academic Services to ensure students have access to tailored academic supports, including library, tutoring, and related resources.

• Identify and address barriers that prevent students from achieving economic security and living-wage employment outcomes.

• Promote a seamless student experience across campuses, programs, and learning modalities.

Workforce & Community Partnerships

• Work with Workforce & Advancement teams to ensure students have opportunities with community and workforce partners during their program and after completion.

• Build and strengthen relationships with local business, industry, employer, and community partners.

• Create new partnerships, responsive programs, and revenue opportunities that support Dallas College’s mission and regional workforce needs.

• Serve as a visible ambassador for Dallas College and the School of Manufacturing & Industrial Technology.

Institutional Collaboration

• Collaborate across Dallas College with academic leaders, workforce education, academic services, enrollment, institutional effectiveness, and student support teams.

• Support alignment of instructional offerings across geographic locations to create a consistent and high-quality student experience.

• Contribute to broader institutional priorities as a member of the academic leadership team.

• Complete required Dallas College professional development training hours each academic year.

Work Location Information

• All positions are considered on-site roles.

• After six months of employment, some positions may be eligible to apply for a hybrid work arrangement based on job responsibilities, operational needs, supervisor approval, and Dallas College policy.

• Academic (Faculty) positions require on-campus presence, even when teaching online courses, in accordance with state law. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution required; earned doctorate preferred.

• Minimum five years of progressively responsible teaching, administrative, and/or educational leadership experience.

• Minimum three years of upper-level administrative or supervisory experience in a community college or higher education environment.

• Demonstrated success in strategic planning, fiscal management, resource allocation, and personnel supervision.

• Distinguished record of teaching, scholarly publications, and/or creative accomplishments that demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence.

• Official transcript will be required. 

• Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading academic programs in manufacturing, industrial technology, workforce education, career and technical education, or a closely related field.

• Experience within a complex college or university environment with a record of enhancing academic quality, faculty excellence, and student success.

• Strong understanding of community college purpose, mission, and the Dallas College vision.

• Experience developing strategic plans, assessing program effectiveness, and strengthening academic units.

• Knowledge of curriculum design, academic management, assessment, accreditation-related expectations, and continuous improvement.

• Experience building partnerships with employers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders.

• Ability to leverage data, benchmarking, and community needs assessments to improve academic programming and student outcomes.

• Appreciation for shared governance and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff, and external partners.
