AAHA-Accredited  |  Fear Free Certified  |  Gold Cat Friendly Practice

Calusa Veterinary Center is hiring an Emergency Medical Director to lead our 24/7 emergency service in Boca Raton. You would be running an emergency department inside a thirteen-doctor hospital with cardiology, internal medicine, oncology and dermatology on staff, so the patients your team stabilizes overnight are seen by a specialist in the morning rather than transferred out. You’ll have MRI, ultrasound and radiography, an in-house laboratory, endoscopy, multiple surgical suites and a hyperbaric oxygen center - and the standing to shape how emergency medicine is practiced here.

WHAT YOU’LL LOVE ABOUT WORKING HERE

• True work-life balance that’s protected. Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time, we’ll create a schedule that fits your life.
• Real support when you need it. You’d lead alongside two experienced co-owners and medical directors who run the hospital, with experienced emergency nurses on every overnight shift - so you’re stepping into a department with a team already in place.
• Benefits that actually matter. Comprehensive health, dental, vision and retirement packages, plus generous PTO, pet discounts, and an Employee Assistance Program. We cover your dues, license fees, DEA and AVMA-PLIT, along with a CE allowance and VIN membership.
• Partnership opportunities for the right candidate. Through Veterinary Practice Partners, more than 260 veterinarians co-own their practices across 185 locations. We believe in investing in our team members and offer pathways to ownership for those who want to build their future with us.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an accredited institution
• Valid veterinary license in the state of Florida
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
• Interest in leadership, mentorship, and practice growth

ABOUT OUR PRACTICE

Calusa Veterinary Center has cared for Boca Raton since 1985. Our purpose is a simple one: around-the-clock compassionate care for pets, and peace of mind for the people who love them. We are a full-service hospital in the truest sense - general practice, emergency, dentistry, rehabilitation, acupuncture, traditional Chinese veterinary medicine, boarding and grooming, all under one roof - and many of the families we see have been with us for decades. We practice the way we would want our own animals treated, which means time spent on client education and on walking an owner through the decision in front of them, not just the diagnosis.

LOCATION

Boca Raton is five miles of Atlantic coastline with the weather to actually use it. Spanish River Park is minutes from the hospital, Red Reef has a snorkel trail running straight off the beach, and the twenty acres of coastal hammock at Gumbo Limbo are a short drive up the road. Downtown, Mizner Park pulls together the Boca Raton Museum of Art, an open-air amphitheater and a restaurant scene that holds its own anywhere in South Florida.

We are dedicated to establishing a culture that celebrates all forms of diversity and allows us to be an inclusive service provider in this community.
