OVERVIEW: The VDC Sr Modeler is an experienced technical contributor within the Virtual Design & Construction department at Royal. This role is responsible for leading the detailing efforts in drawing & other supporting documents while mentoring junior team members. Working under the guidance of the VDC Supervisor and Coordinator, this position develops advanced detailing workflows and leadership skills in the sub-group of the VDC department while helping improve project quality, reduce field conflicts, and maintain communication between Royal Electric.
Responsibilities
Model & Sheet Production
· Lead production of installation, Prefab & other supporting drawings to Royal R-series standards.
· Thoroughly understand the task to be performed and maintains communication with VDC Coordinator & Supervisor.
· Actively looks for new means & methods to current workflow to optimize team output, meet deadlines and maintain budgets.
· Mentor junior modelers in the detailing team to ensure Royal standards are adopted.
Technical Skills
· Has familiarity with the technical skills required to perform the work in the following software: Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Evolve Electrical, Bluebeam.
· Demonstrates strong desire to learn new techniques and software.
· Independently and proactively learns and troubleshoots software with all tools provided.
· Demonstrates a natural fluency with computers and software. Able to learn new programs quickly.
Trade Knowledge
· Familiar with reading plans, specs, submittals, and codes required to perform the work.
· Familiar with trade and construction knowledge required to perform the work.
· Demonstrates a strong desire to learn about the electrical trade and construction materials and methods.
· Seeks out guidance from VDC Coordinators, Layout Specialists, and Foremen for their trade knowledge or field experience.
· Reviews their own work for appropriate use of construction materials and methods.
Organization & Communication Skills
· Brings difficult issues forward to other team members for guidance. Clarifies needs to others.
· Follows directions, keeps good notes, sets daily and weekly goals for self.
· Keeps digital workspace neat and organized (ie. Organizes model browser, deletes unnecessary views and sheets).
· Follows department file management policies so that files and digital assets are readily accessible by all department members.
Salary: $30.00-$45.00/hour
Requirements
Education & Experience
· 2+ years of experience in BIM environment
· At least 2+ years of working knowledge of the latest versions of Autodesk Revit.
· At least 2+ years of experience working with BIM 360, Navisworks, Trimble, Bluebeam preferred.
Required Skills & Abilities
· Ability to troubleshoot minor software issues independently.
· Possess a strong attention to detail and organization
· Effectively communicate with team members and key project stake holders
· Ability to read and understand plans, specs, submittals, and codes to perform work

· Must wear proper PPE while on jobsites.
· Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
· Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday.
· Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
