OVERVIEW: The VDC Coordinator supports project coordination activities by participating in BIM coordination meetings, tracking design conflicts, and assisting with the development of coordinated construction models. Working under the guidance of senior coordinators, this position develops technical modeling and coordination skills while helping improve project quality, reduce field conflicts, and maintain communication between Royal Electric, owners, and trade partners.
Responsibilities
Model Planning & Production
· Assist in the 3D modeling efforts for large-scale and high-complexity projects using Superintendents’ or Layout Specialist Layouts.
· Use Navisworks Manage or ACC Forma for Clash Detection & Resolution.
· Ensure models meet the GC’s requirements per BIM Execution Plan or Appendix.
· Collaborate with VDC - Sr Coordinator, Supervisor & Manager to ensure BIM budgets are being maintained.
· Accountable for accuracy and completion of models and drawings for assigned projects per GC schedule or Operations Team schedule.
· Proactively uses Click-Up for task management using Royal Electric’s R-Series standards.
· Actively looks for and shares new means and methods to VDC Workflows.
Coordination
· Adhere to the project schedule and communicate quickly and early if project timelines will not be met.
· Utilize and keep updated the project tracking system.
· Utilize and seek out advanced workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
· Modeling our linking values, represent the company in high level coordination meetings with clients and trade partners.
· Resolve coordination issues with minimal impact to cost and schedule.
· Communicate clearly to all stakeholders when coordination issues produce cost or schedule impacts.
· Collaborate closely with field staff to uniformly represent Royal and Royals best interest to project success with clients and trade partners while modeling our linking values.
· Use conflict resolution strategies and assist in ensuring the constructability of final models.
· Using our linking values build relationships with owners and trade partners that allow for solving problems collaboratively for project success.
Technical Skills
· Accurate content creation.
· Has technical skills required to perform the work in the following software: Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, eVolve Electrical, Trimble, Bluebeam.
· Demonstrates strong desire to learn and teach new techniques and software.
· Able to troubleshoot issues with software by seeking out information freely available online or consulting with peers.
· Demonstrates a natural fluency with computers and software. Able to learn new programs quickly.
· Promotes usage of construction technology and mentors or trains peers on its usage.
Trade Knowledge
· Able to fluently read plans, specs, submittals, and codes. Able to identify potential flaws or risks in plans, specs, and submittals.
· Has a background in the electrical trade with trade knowledge and a desire to share that knowledge with others.
· QA/QC their own work and the work of others for appropriate use of construction materials and methods.
· Has knowledge required to create prefab assembly details for projects. Collaborates with field operations to identify prefab assemblies for projects.
· Proactively seeks out new prefab opportunities and methods.
Organization & Communication Skills
· Coordinates on difficult issues with field operations. Brings cost impacts forward to stakeholders.
· Provides clear directions to others, keeps good notes, sets daily and weekly goals for self and others.
· Ensures the digital workspace is neat and organized, ensures others do the same.
· Follows and enforces department file management policies so that files and digital assets are readily accessible by all department members.
· Ability to communicate with diverse teams such as Superintendents, Foreman, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and VDC team members.
Salary: $35.00-$50.00/hour
Requirements
Education & Experience
· 4+ Years of experience working in BIM environment.
· Strong Electrical background preferred
Required Skills & Abilities
· Proficiency the latest versions of Autodesk Revit.
· Fully equipped with the knowledge of the following software; BIM 360, Navisworks, Trimble, Bluebeam, AutoCAD.
· Ability to create simple parametric families, understand and work with complex families, based on project needs required
· Ability to create and manipulate schedules for creating take offs, BOM’s, and cut lists.
· Ability to read and understand drawings from multiple disciplines and identify potential flaws or risks
· Ability to troubleshoot minor software issues independently
· Must be detail oriented and well organized
· Ability to effectively communicate across multilevel teams and owner types
· Understanding of One Lines in Electrical Systems.
Safety & Physical Requirements
· Must wear proper PPE while on jobsites.
· Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
· Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday.
· Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach.
