We are seeking an experienced US Accounting Lead with 3–6 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably with a background in an IT services or technology company operating in the US market. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in US GAAP, exposure to IFRS, and a solid understanding of US accounting practices, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
The candidate will be responsible for managing core accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining accounting records, and supporting business and finance stakeholders with reliable financial information. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and the confidence to work independently in a US-focused accounting environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations for US-based entities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and properly supported.
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, account schedules, and supporting documentation in accordance with US GAAP.
- Ensure proper application and interpretation of US GAAP accounting principles across revenue, expenses, accruals, fixed assets, leases, and other accounting areas.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, and account reconciliations.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies, unusual movements, and variances.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, auditors, tax teams, and other finance functions to resolve accounting and reporting matters.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, documentation, and responses to audit queries.
- Ensure compliance with applicable US accounting and financial reporting requirements.
- Provide accounting guidance on transactions and business activities while maintaining consistency with established accounting policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting as required.
- Maintain proper documentation and accounting records to support audit readiness and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with global finance teams where accounting processes involve both US GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on knowledge of US GAAP.
- Good understanding of IFRS and differences between US GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience working with a US-based company, preferably within the IT services, software, SaaS, or technology sector.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements under US GAAP.
- Ability to analyze accounting transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounting activities within deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
- Experience working with accounting/ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Exposure to US audits, internal controls, revenue recognition, and financial compliance will be an advantage.
Experience
3–6 years of relevant accounting experience, with demonstrated experience in US GAAP, preferably gained while working with a US company in the IT services or technology industry.
