Sobre esta vaga de UI Engineer (Game Industry) na Nimble Workforce
We are looking for a UI Engineer with strong C++ fundamentals and professional Unreal Engine experience to architect, implement, optimize, and maintain UI systems for our AAA development partner.
This is an engineering role. The team's UI architecture is primarily C++-driven, and candidates whose experience is predominantly Blueprint-based are unlikely to have the technical foundation required for the position.
Blueprint experience is useful, particularly for simple implementation tasks and collaboration with designers, but it is not a substitute for strong C++ engineering experience.
Requirements
In this role, you will
- Architect, plan, and implement new UI systems and features.
- Write robust, maintainable C++ supporting player-facing UI.
- Work closely with UI Art, UX Design, Technical UI Design, Production, and other engineers.
- Build and maintain data-driven UI architectures using established design patterns such as MVVM.
- Optimize existing UI systems and diagnose performance problems and hitches.
- Debug issues across UI, gameplay systems, rendering, platform behavior, and other connected systems.
- Work with UMG, Slate, and Unreal's broader UI framework.
- Integrate UI with game and online systems, including retrieving data and carrying it through application systems to the player-facing interface.
- Depending on the feature, work with existing web services, endpoints, or online subsystems.
- Implement features across PC and other supported platforms while accounting for differences in input, platform behavior, and performance.
- Participate in code review and asynchronous technical discussion across a distributed engineering organization.
What we're looking for
- Strong professional C++ programming skills.
- Strong programming fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, architecture, and software design patterns.
- Professional Unreal Engine development experience.
- The ability to explain and work with architectural patterns such as MVVM, MVC, or comparable approaches to separating data, logic, and presentation.
- Professional experience developing UI systems or player-facing features.
- A strong understanding of UI development principles rather than only general gameplay programming experience.
- Experience diagnosing bugs, performance problems, and runtime issues.
- Experience collaborating with designers, artists, production, and engineers outside your immediate discipline.
- Strong written communication skills for code review, asynchronous problem-solving, technical documentation, and distributed development.
Candidates coming from gameplay or generalist engineering backgrounds may be considered when they have substantial hands-on UI experience and a strong understanding of UI architecture and best practices. Occasional exposure to UI alone is not sufficient.
Preferred
- Experience with UMG and Slate.
- Experience using Unreal Insights.
- Experience with networking concepts, online subsystems, or web services.
- Experience consuming or extending existing service endpoints.
- Experience developing UI across multiple platforms.
- Console development experience.
- Mobile development experience, including iOS or Android.
- Experience supporting multiple input methods, including controller, mouse and keyboard, and touch.
A candidate does not need to be a network engineer or have experience standing up new backend services. Familiarity with networking concepts and the ability to follow an existing integration pattern are sufficient for the networking portion of the role.
