Voyago, Transdev Ontario, is hiring Transit Drivers to fill both existing and future openings based in our Ajax office, supporting operations across the expanded Durham regions.

Your Role

• Voyago's Transit Drivers are responsible for delivering exceptional door-to-door transportation and customer service, while working closely with individuals who have special needs
• You are required to provide proactive assistance to passengers in boarding vehicles, maneuvering wheelchairs, securing belts, lifting portable assistive devices, and offering necessary aid throughout the journey.
• You are a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers by properly securing passengers, devices, and mobility aids.
• Additionally, providing WOW! Customer service to all passengers and assisting with information on fares, schedules, and stops is a crucial aspect of this role

Key Responsibilities

• You are offering door-to-door customer service to safely transport passengers to and from designated destinations
• You will assist passengers in boarding, exiting, and securing mobility devices, e.g. wheelchairs, in accordance with training and safety procedures
• You are attaching securement belts and lift portable assistive devices as needed.
• You will ensure the proper restraint and security of passengers, devices, and mobility aids.
• You will conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• You will maintain accurate trip records and report incents, delays, or vehicle concerns promptly
• You are providing passengers with accurate information on fares, schedules, and stops.
• You will maintain a safe and comfortable environment throughout the journey.
• You will communicate effectively and professionally with passengers and team members.
• You will adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Requirements

Your Profile

• Valid Ontario driver's licence with a clean driving record
• You are a safe driver with at least a full G Class licence
• Candidates applying with a current valid work permit and requiring a licence upgrade, must have at least twelve months of remaining validity on the work permit at the time of application.
• You can obtain a clean criminal record search and/or vulnerable sector screening
• You are able to work with individuals who have special needs in a compassionate and patient manner
• You are physically capable to lift and maneuver assistive devices
• You have excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Your prior experience in a similar role would be preferred
• You are comfortable working around any type of service animal
• You have a sound knowledge of the city of Durham
• You can successfully complete all required online training and assessments, including a road evaluation

Shifts

• We have a 24/7 operation which requires full time and part time shifts
• Shifts are not guaranteed prior to employment
• Shift availability and scheduling requiremnts will be discussed at orientation
• Shifts can be morning, afternoon, or evenings, any day of the week

Hourly Rate : $20.00/hr
