Salary: $140,000-155,000
We are hiring a Technical Program Manager to own the multimedia and platform software scope for upcoming infotainment programs. The role covers two closely coupled areas: the multimedia stack the customer experiences directly, spanning audio, video, media playback, tuner and streaming sources, and the board support package underneath it, spanning SoC bring-up, kernel and driver delivery, hardware abstraction layers, power management and platform integration.
The work is coordination-heavy and technically deep. You will lead software teams to deliver on key milestones and software releases per vehicle program timing, working across our internal platform and application teams, the Tier 1 supplier and the silicon vendor. Multimedia features cannot land before the platform underneath them is stable, and the core of this job is keeping those two schedules honest with each other and escalating early when they are not.
Responsibilities
Multimedia
• Create program timing plans for multimedia features across audio, video, media playback, tuner and streaming sources, based on available resources and required features for the software teams
• Work with cross-functional teams inside IVI and across the organization to evaluate, develop and clarify requirements, then decompose them into consumable work tasks for developers and testers
• Drive cross-functional execution between multimedia software, audio, HMI, integration and validation teams
• Prioritize and drive software defects to closure to meet software release timing, leading bug triage where next steps on open issues are identified and assigned
• Evaluate incoming feature requests and identify future resource needs against program capacity
• Maintain the dependency map between multimedia features and the platform and middleware capabilities they rely on
Platform and board support package
• Own the BSP delivery schedule with the silicon vendor and Tier 1, covering SoC bring-up, kernel, device drivers, hardware abstraction layers, power management and board revisions
• Drive platform milestone readiness: bring-up gates, BSP drops, integration branches and hand-off points into application teams
• Manage dependencies for the engineering team including procurement of development benches, sample boards and test platforms in support of execution
• Track platform defects and non-functional targets such as boot and resume time, memory footprint, thermal behavior, power states and audio and video latency against program commitments
• Run the regular cadence with vendor program managers, and hold go and no-go reviews where the technical merits of open issues are weighed to make a release decision
• Communicate program status, progress and risks to stakeholders, escalating decisions needed to the heads of PMO
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field
• 5+ years of technical program management on embedded or platform software, including ownership of a delivery schedule that depended on a third party
• Working technical fluency in embedded platform software: board support packages, SoC bring-up, kernel and driver delivery, and the judgment to tell a platform issue from an application issue
• Demonstrated history of communicating with engineering managers on technical topics, distilling detail into decisions, and driving those decisions to closure
• Experience managing silicon vendors, Tier 1 suppliers or external software partners against committed dates and quality gates
• Experience analyzing and decomposing requirements into work tasks, and running defect triage across organizational boundaries
• Ability to build and maintain dependency maps between feature commitments and platform readiness, and to communicate the consequences of a slip clearly
• Strong written and verbal communication, comfortable escalating to director and PMO level with a recommendation rather than a status
Preferred Qualifications
• Automotive infotainment experience, particularly multimedia: audio routing and mixing, video pipelines, media frameworks, tuner and streaming integration
• Familiarity with Android Automotive OS, Embedded Linux, QNX or RTOS platform software, and hypervisor-based cockpit architectures
• Exposure to multimedia frameworks and interfaces such as ALSA, GStreamer, media HAL layers or equivalent
• Experience with cockpit SoC platforms, for example Qualcomm Snapdragon Automotive, NXP i.MX, Renesas R-Car or TI Jacinto
• Understanding of infotainment power management strategy across the platform, including sleep and wake states and low-voltage power distribution behavior
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols and services: CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP, UDS and DoIP
• Experience with software containers, remote software deployment and OTA delivery into production vehicles
• Familiarity with secure boot, secure key management and cybersecurity requirements as they touch platform releases
• Vehicle program cadence experience: bench and vehicle build phases, software release trains, and launch readiness gates
• Tooling: Jira, Confluence, Jama for requirements tracking, Git-based workflows, and program reporting or dashboard tools
• Automotive SPICE, ISO 26262 or equivalent process exposure
Salary Range
• $140,000 - 155,000
