Job Summary

This position provides support for the daily activities in the Set-up Process department.

Key Responsibilities

• Must follow and enforce Silgan Safety, Quality and GMP policies.
• Able to support Silgan Penn Yan with processing issues in the manufacturing of plastic containers.
• Able to effectively communicate with plant process set up technicians to resolve issues.
• Capable of assisting process engineers by applying plastic processing knowledge and experience to evaluate new products and make design recommendations to improve process capability
• Ability to read and understand product part drawings and specifications and fully understand what features are critical to part function and performance.
• Able to provide independent recommendations for product design or process changes to improve product or processes based on Manufacturing needs.
• Ability to troubleshoot on blow molding equipment and support technicians when break downs occur or containers are not running to quality standards.
• Troubleshoot Bottle and Jar defects.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tooling.
• Quality Inspection requirements.
• Operate forklift.
• Operating production equipment in blow molding machines.
• Perform and assist in production machinery change overs and process set ups.
• Work closely with and support company process engineers to help develop new processes and new containers.
• Determine optimum processes to meet product performance requirements.
• Work closely with color suppliers and customer service to ensure success on all future color orders and run all new color samples.
• Some heavy lifting-up to 80 lbs.
• Leak detector knowledge a plus.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools.

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Preferred: High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

• No prior experience required, however manufacturing experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Dependable with a strong commitment to attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
• Willingness to perform repetitive tasks and support production operations as needed.
• Excel, math skills

Physical Requirements

Work Environment: This position operates in a fast-paced light duty manufacturing environment and requires adherence to all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions involving hands, arms, and upper body.
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle production materials and cartons as required.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.

Work Schedule:

2-2-3 Schedule, 8:00am-8:00pm

3-4-3 Schedule, 8:00pm-8:00am

Work 14-16 days per month!

Salary starts at $21.10 per hour, plus $1.00 per hour night shift differential

Stay on Bonus of up to $1,500.00 

Referral bonus of up to $1,000.00
