About the Role
We are looking for a highly technical SEO & Web Performance Specialist to take ownership of the website’s technical SEO, performance, search visibility and overall user experience.
This is a hands-on role focused on identifying and resolving technical issues, improving Core Web Vitals and page speed, and enhancing organic search performance. You will also work closely with an external development partner to ensure website improvements are effectively implemented, monitored and measured.
What You'll Do
- Own the technical SEO strategy and website performance.
- Improve Core Web Vitals, LCP, INP and CLS.
- Diagnose and optimise page speed, mobile performance, images, scripts and other website resources.
- Assess the performance impact of third-party scripts.
- Conduct technical SEO audits and monitor crawling, indexing and rendering.
- Manage site architecture, internal linking, redirects, canonicalisation, robots.txt and XML sitemaps.
- Implement and validate structured data/schema.
- Identify and resolve JavaScript and other technical issues affecting organic search performance.
- Provide technical SEO input for website changes, redesigns and new development.
- Use Google Search Console, Google Analytics, PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse and Chrome DevTools.
- Set performance benchmarks and report measurable improvements.
Working With Our External Development Partner
- Act as the technical SEO owner on our side of the relationship.
- Identify technical problems and translate them into clear, actionable developer requirements.
- Review proposed solutions, test changes and confirm whether issues have been properly resolved.
- Ensure SEO and performance improvements are implemented effectively rather than relying on developers to identify issues.
Requirements
- 4+ years of technical SEO experience.
- Strong understanding of how websites work technically.
- Proven experience improving Core Web Vitals and website performance.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of crawling, indexing, and rendering.
- Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, and Chrome DevTools.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving website performance issues.
- Experience working directly with web developers.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar SEO tools.
- Git/GitHub experience.
- Knowledge of CDNs and caching, such as Cloudflare.
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Next.js.
- WordPress or other CMS experience.
- Basic Python or SQL knowledge.
- Experience with structured data/schema.
- Experience managing large or technically complex websites.
- Experience managing external development agencies.
