We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a strong background in software engineering and technical project execution. The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of overall experience, including prior hands-on software engineering experience and proven expertise in managing complex technical programs, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering software initiatives successfully.
This role is suited for professionals who understand software development from the ground up and can bridge the gap between engineering teams, product management, and business stakeholders. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, identifying technical risks, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Program Management: Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of complex software engineering programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business priorities.
- Software Engineering Collaboration: Leverage prior software development experience to understand technical architecture, engineering challenges, dependencies, and implementation approaches.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with software engineers, engineering managers, product managers, QA teams, DevOps, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless program execution.
- Program Planning and Execution: Define project scope, milestones, deliverables, timelines, resource requirements, and success metrics for multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Risk and Dependency Management: Identify technical and operational risks, resolve blockers, manage inter-team dependencies, and proactively develop mitigation plans.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate program status, progress, risks, and key decisions to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders through structured updates and reviews.
- Agile Project Delivery: Drive Agile methodologies, sprint planning, backlog prioritization, retrospectives, and continuous improvement across engineering teams.
- Process Optimization: Establish effective program management practices, improve engineering workflows, and implement mechanisms to enhance productivity and delivery predictability.
- Quality and Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators, monitor delivery timelines, and ensure software releases meet quality, scalability, and reliability expectations.
- Technical Decision Support: Facilitate technical discussions, help teams evaluate trade-offs, and ensure engineering decisions remain aligned with program objectives.
Must-Have Skills and Qualifications
- 7–10 years of overall professional experience in software engineering and technical program management.
- Previous hands-on experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or in a closely related engineering role.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC), system architecture, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and engineering best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects and coordinate multiple engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, program planning, risk management, and dependency tracking.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical plans and measurable outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions in dynamic environments.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Candidates who have successfully transitioned from software engineering into technical program management, engineering program management, or technical project leadership will be preferred. Experience managing large-scale software initiatives, distributed engineering teams, and multiple concurrent programs will be an advantage.
