KYC Training Specialist

Northern Trust is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented KYC Training Specialist to join the KYC Centre of Excellence (CoE). The role reports to the Global KYC Training Lead and supports the delivery of AML/KYC training activities across the First Line of Defense (1LOD), contributing to the effectiveness of the Global AML Program through training coordination, materials development, and continuous improvement support.

Role Overview

The KYC Training Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, development, delivery, and maintenance of AML/KYC training programs across the KYC CoE. The role helps ensure colleagues maintain a strong understanding of anti-money laundering, know-your-customer, sanctions, and financial crime requirements by assisting with new joiner training, refresher sessions, training materials, completion tracking, and stakeholder coordination. The position also supports the use of video-assisted, digital, and AI-enabled training approaches where appropriate to improve engagement, accessibility, and training effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of AML/KYC training in response to Global AML Program changes and continuous improvement initiatives

• Assist with ongoing AML awareness training across the KYC CoE

• Coordinate and support new joiner AML/KYC training in accordance with agreed schedules

• Assist with periodic refresher training sessions using feedback from Quality Control, Quality Assurance, audits, and other review activities

• Support tracking and follow-up of mandatory compliance and financial crime training completion

• Help maintain procedures, guidance notes, controls, training materials, attendance records, and supporting documentation for the AML Program Management team

• Develop and update training materials, presentations, job aids, guidance documents, and learning resources that support effective knowledge transfer and operational consistency

• Support the preparation and delivery of video-assisted, virtual, and AI-enabled training content to enhance learner engagement and reinforce AML/KYC knowledge retention

• Provide first-level support to colleagues on training-related queries and escalate complex matters to the Global KYC Training Lead where required

• Assist with training-related evidence, documentation, and reporting needed for internal testing, compliance reviews, audits, and regulatory examinations

• Monitor training completion data, identify gaps, and support timely escalation of overdue or incomplete training items

• Maintain awareness of AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime regulatory developments and support updates to training content as required

• Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the Three Lines of Defense to support consistent implementation of AML/KYC training requirements

• Support continuous improvement of the AML/KYC training framework, including learner feedback analysis and enhancements to training materials

Qualifications & Experience

• A college or university degree and/or equivalent relevant professional experience

• 4-6 years' experience in AML/KYC operations, client onboarding, periodic review, compliance, financial crime, training, or a related function

• Working knowledge of AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime regulations and processes

• Experience supporting the development, coordination, or delivery of training materials and learning sessions

• Experience developing or delivering video-assisted, virtual, or AI-supported training content is advantageous

• Experience with video-assisted learning tools, digital training platforms, learning management systems, or AI-enabled learning solutions is advantageous

• Strong financial services and/or AML/KYC operational background

• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working across AML/KYC, Compliance, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Risk, Audit, and Operations

• Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills

• Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools

• SharePoint experience would be advantageous

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with appropriate supervision

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
