Your role at Baxter

These are the employment prerequisites and job responsibilities for the Calibration Technician position, reporting to the Manager, QA Systems. The Calibration Technician supports calibration and equipment activities for manufacturing and service operations. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong mechanical or technical aptitude to develop expertise in calibration, instrumentation, and equipment support within a regulated medical device environment.

Important: This position is located in Medina, NY and is designed as an onsite role, with an encouraged presence of five (5) days per week to foster collaboration, innovation, and connection across the team. Baxter is seeking candidates who reside within a reasonable commuting distance and are able to regularly support the business through in-person engagement and partnership at the Medina site.

What You'll Be Doing 

This position is responsible for following procedures to ensure that electrical, electronic, mechanical, and analytical measuring equipment meets industry standards.

• Accurately test and calibrate indicating and recording equipment so that they give proper readings.
• Maintaining equipment, troubleshooting equipment (to the component level) and repairing any damage.
• Perform assigned calibration and equipment support activities to help ensure manufacturing and service equipment remains accurate and available for use.
• Complete calibration and equipment documentation in accordance with approved procedures.
• Operate various electronic meters and test equipment
• Read blueprints, schematics and follow written instructions
• Able to perform tasks assigned with minimal supervision
• Support investigation and troubleshooting of equipment issues affecting manufacturing operations.
• Process quality related documentation in an FDA regulated facility as it relates to calibration and equipment.
• Ability to use various software packages such as MS Excel, Word, and Access Databases
• Support internal and external calibration activities as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring 

• High School diploma GED or 2 years of College, Technical Trade School or US Military training in electronics is preferred.
• Prior calibration experience is beneficial but not required for candidates with strong technical aptitude, mechanical skills, and a desire to learn.
• Working experience in medical devices or related industry preferred.

• Good math and reading skills
• Computer literate
• Excellent attention to detail
• Basic mechanical ability and understanding, to include a demonstrated mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn calibration techniques and regulatory requirements.

• Knowledge of Anti-static precautions for working with static-sensitive electronic components working safely with electricity.
• Ability to learn the functions of infusion pumps and their various configurations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
• Able to sit and stand throughout the day.
• Physical Requirements:  Dynamic Lifting capability: Must have the ability to lift and carry 15 pounds from floor to shoulder and lift 2 pounds from shoulder to overhead.  Must also have the capability to push and pull a maximum force of 6 pounds.

Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 

This is a manufacturing environment regulated by the FDA and many other work rules to prevent damage to the product we manufacture.  Some of those work rules include but are not limited to: 

• Wearing a static protective smock at all times while in the manufacturing/production area.
• Wearing a ground wrist strap and plugging that wrist strap into the working table. 
• Working in close proximity to other employees.
• Working in an environment that is temperature and humidity controlled. 
• Non-routine exposure to de-greasers, oils, electronic equipment cleaners
  

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $49,600.00 - $68,200.00 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
