The Tax team supports Ventas by ensuring compliance with federal, state and local tax obligations while promoting accuracy and efficiency across tax-related processes. Through timely reporting, strong internal controls and actionable insights, the team helps maintain the Company’s financial strength and supports its long-term growth.

About the Role

The Tax Intern will support Ventas’ federal, state and local tax compliance and reporting activities through a year-long internship. Based in our Louisville, KY office, the intern will gain hands-on corporate tax experience while developing technical skills and exposure to a range of income and specialty tax processes. This opportunity provides a strong foundation for students interested in accounting, taxation or corporate finance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely federal, state and local income tax returns
• Compile, analyze and organize financial data to support tax calculations and reporting
• Prepare supporting schedules and maintain post-filing documentation, including notices, adjustments and refunds
• Support the preparation of K-1 packets for joint venture partners
• Prepare recurring monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
• Assist with business license filings and related compliance activities
• Respond to specialty tax notices and inquiries
• Contribute to ad hoc projects that improve efficiency and accuracy across the Tax department

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher at an accredited four-year college or university and pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field
• Completion of at least two accounting courses required; coursework in taxation is preferred
• Strong academic performance with a minimum 3.5 GPA
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical, organizational and written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented, adaptable self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines
• Must be located in the Louisville, KY surrounding area or willing to relocate for the duration of the internship
• Must be able to work 20 to 25 hours per week during standard business hours and thrive in a hybrid work environment, including working onsite in the Louisville, KY office at least two days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
• Must be available to begin the internship in January 2027
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future
