The Systems Test Engineer will be responsible for evaluating Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives for current products and supporting strategic quality goals across existing products and new product introductions (NPIs). Key responsibilities will include working with cross-functional teams to drive business stakeholders’ priorities and support active products in the areas of VAVE and cost reduction, supply chain support, design for in-sourcing, and key technology implementation.
The role will also be responsible for conducting system-level testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis on customer-returned instruments and components, including RMA and DOA cases. This includes investigating reported customer issues, identifying root causes, validating corrective actions, and providing technical recommendations to improve product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Primarily responsible for providing evaluation results through verification and validation activities to ensure proper performance, long-term stability, reliability, robustness, and customer usability for Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) projects across PerkinElmer products, including Mass Spectroscopy, ICP-OES, and GC products.
Lead and support VAVE activities, including technical evaluation, testing, validation, and implementation of cost-reduction and value-engineering opportunities while maintaining product quality, performance, and reliability.
Responsible for system-level testing, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of customer-returned instruments and components, including RMA and DOA cases. Investigate reported issues, identify root causes, validate corrective actions, and provide technical recommendations to improve product quality and reliability.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) transfer activities from development into production, including verification of product performance, test requirements, test methods, and readiness of test stations and processes to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing.
Work closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and other cross-functional teams to support product development, product transfer, cost reduction, quality improvement, and customer issue resolution.
Log, track, and maintain records of defects, test results, investigation findings, and corrective actions, ensuring issues are properly documented and followed through to closure.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent required.
2-5 years analytical instrumentation experience
Statistical analysis capabilities a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; requires interaction with managers, supervisors, engineers in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and take ownership of projects, performing job requirements with minimal oversight and attention to detail.
Positive attitude, high energy and troubleshooting skills
Fully responsible for significant/challenging deliverables keeping management informed of progress and strategy.
