This role oversees the day-to-day operations of materials handling, inventory management associates, and related functions. The Supervisor of Materials and Logistics supports print and production departments by ensuring the timely availability and movement of materials and services needed to meet client service level agreements in the most cost-efficient manner. They assist management in developing and implementing policies and procedures, completing performance evaluations, and supporting personnel administration. This position ensures adherence to company and departmental policies and procedures, delegates and distributes work, monitors associate productivity, and may participate in inventory management and production floor activities as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the receiving and warehouse inventory control processes to ensure materials are accurately tracked and controlled, supporting the department’s responsibility to produce quality products safely and efficiently.

• Ensure accurate inventory control and transaction flow throughout the department, including the electronic tracking, scanning, reconciliation, auditing, and reporting of materials movement and inventory counts.

• Oversee material handling activities to ensure machines are supplied with the correct materials and envelopes required for each job, while maintaining appropriate lead times and defined inventory min/max levels.

• Receive, log, scan, weigh, label, shelve, ship, return, and otherwise process materials and related documentation as required.

• Monitor work-in-progress and material flow to maintain continuous production support and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

• Plan, schedule, and manage labor and other resources to meet workflow and production volume requirements, support efficient operations, and achieve cost-per-unit, productivity, and quality targets.

• Supervise inventory management and production support staff, including assigning work, managing schedules, cross-training associates, positioning staff appropriately, and adjusting labor levels through temporary staffing support as needed.

• Train, coach, mentor, counsel, motivate, and develop staff through on-the-job and classroom training, while communicating department policies, procedures, performance expectations, and safety standards.

• Participate in staffing and performance management activities, including interviewing candidates, making hiring and termination recommendations or decisions, conducting performance appraisals, and documenting performance and accountability issues.

• Ensure accurate shift-to-shift communication and readiness by communicating priorities verbally and through daily email turnovers to support efficient operations.

• Research, resolve, and report inventory, material, and workflow discrepancies in collaboration with internal and external partners as needed.

• Collaborate with Maintenance, Production Operations, Finance, Vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues, provide status updates, obtain needed information, and support operational commitments.

• Document departmental processes and procedures; lead or participate in process improvement initiatives related to inventory management and cross-functional production support.

• Prepare written reports and data analysis for department leadership to support data-driven decision-making.

•  Ensure housekeeping, safety, and security standards are maintained, including proper use of material handling equipment.

• Operate material handling equipment as needed.

• Assume certain Materials Manager responsibilities in the absence of the Materials Manager.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• People leader experience for small to medium sized teams (10 – 20 direct reports)

• Experience directing work for Contingent Workers

• Proven proficiency in analyzing problem areas and adjusting production support as required

• 3-5 years in a high-volume production environment

• 1 – 2 years Material Handling experience

• 1 – 2 years Project management experience

Skills/Competencies:

• Attention to detail

• Strong oral and written communication

• Proficient in English; Farsi, Dari, Pashtu communication skills a plus

• Ability to interact with all levels of management

Requirements:

• Ability to bend, stoop, stand, lift boxes weighing up to 35 50 lbs. and/or operate equipment for 12-hour shifts.

• Ability to work in a noisy environment (ear protection provided and required).

• Ability to push, pull or move heavy objects.

• Ability to operate powered industrial equipment (after inhouse training)

• Ability to work in all areas of materials. (i.e. Staging, Recycle, Receiving, Shipping, Warehouse (after inhouse training)

The salary range for this position is $76,000 - $80,000 annual base. Eligible for annual bonus. Broadridge considers various factors when evaluating a candidate's final salary including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
