Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Support Equipment Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of individuals within our Product Support organization supporting the Multi-Domain Command & Control (MDC2) Business Unit.  The position will be in Melbourne, FL. This leadership position will be full-time in the office with nominal travel responsibilities, including potential for international travel.

This role will have direct supervisory and/or management responsibilities for a team of engineers responsible for the design, build, test, and procurement of E-2C/D Hawkeye Support Equipment for our USN and FMS customers. 

Essential Duties:

• Manage design concepts and lead preliminary and critical design reviews.
• Mentor development of test documentation.
• Oversee integration, validation, and verification activities.
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers to ensure effective coordination.
• Develop and execute program schedules and budgets in alignment with established processes and directives.
• Plan and manage Earned Value Management (EVM) for assigned work packages and subsystems.
• Monitor and report program performance across cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality.
• Provide detailed reporting to upper leadership.
• Support proposal and estimating activities, including task and statement‑of‑work development.
• Provide oversight of projects and tasks assigned to the organizational group.
• Intervene as needed to help meet schedules or resolve technical and operational problems.
• Maintain frequent contact with internal stakeholders and external customer representatives at various management levels regarding operations, schedules, and project phases.
• Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings with internal and external representatives on operational and project specifics.
• Provide functional support to employees, including staffing and performance.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution and minimum of 9 years of related professional/military experience executing and leading mechanical and/or electrical mechanism design, manufacturing, and test efforts OR Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution and minimum of 7 years of related professional/military experience executing and leading mechanical and/or electrical mechanism design, manufacturing, and test efforts
• Demonstrated experience in proposal writing and estimating.
• Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of IPT/Program Management processes (CAM processes, project planning and scheduling, cost control, change control, EVMS, staffing, coordination and oversight of technical work effort and risk and opportunity management).
• Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
• Possess rudimentary understanding and application of Product Support Technical Discipline principles, concepts, practices, and standards and proficient project management skills to oversee and execute role and responsibilities.
• Ability to travel as needed (approx. 10%)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in an STEM field (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
• Demonstrated experience and a proven record of leading engineering teams in developing Support Equipment that meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in requirements management inclusive of development, derivation, validation and verification of requirements
• Experience working on both classified and unclassified Military programs
• Understanding the development and coaching for leadership and performance
• Experience leading a large department in a matrix environment
• Practice with earned value management (EVMS) and internal tools (i.e. Integrated Management Operating Model (IMOM))

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
