Supplier Performance Specialist

Ontic is a leading global aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) trusted by the world’s aviation leaders. Ontic’s Creedmoor, NC, site is home to a number of specialist companies within the Ontic Group, including Metro Merlin, Twin Commander, and Firstmark. With over 1,500 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.

Our team is looking for a Supplier Performance Specialist to join them. You will report to the Supplier Performance Manager and will have an onsite work structure in Creedmoor, North Carolina.

To be considered for the Supplier Performance Specialist opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 3–7+ years of experience in supply chain, materials, supplier management, or operations
• Experience within Aerospace & Defense or another highly regulated manufacturing environment preferred
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
• Strong understanding of purchase order management, supplier scheduling, lead times, and production-driven supply environments
• Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and Lean principles
• Strong sense of urgency with a demonstrated focus on execution and results
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced, production-driven environment
• Effective communication skills with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate data and performance trends into actionable plans
• Ability to travel 20–40% to supplier locations and other company sites as needed

As a Supplier Performance Specialist, you will:

Supplier Management & Recovery

• Act as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers impacting site production.
• Manage daily supplier communications to confirm commitments, expedite orders, resolve shortages, and address delivery risks.
• Monitor past-due purchase orders, late deliveries, and at-risk supply against production schedules and required need dates.
• Develop and execute supplier recovery plans for underperforming suppliers.
• Track progress against recovery milestones and escalate risks, delays, or missed commitments.
• Ensure corrective actions are clearly defined, documented, implemented, and monitored through completion.
• Apply structured problem-solving methodologies, including 8D and RCCA, to identify and address root causes of supplier performance issues.
• Engage the Supplier Performance Manager when supplier issues exceed established escalation thresholds.

Production & Operational Support

• Actively participate in tiered daily management, including Tier 1–3 meetings.
• Provide timely updates on critical shortages, supplier commitments versus production need dates, and recovery status for high-impact suppliers.
• Prioritize supplier actions based on line-down risk, production impact, and business requirements.
• Ensure alignment between supplier commitments and site production plans.
• Identify and escalate risks including supplier capacity constraints, delivery instability, lead-time concerns, and quality-related disruptions.
• Support escalation activities with relevant data, impact analysis, and recommended actions.

Supplier Performance & Analytics

• Track and manage site-level supplier KPIs, including:On-Time Delivery (OTD) to need/request datePast-due backlogLead-time adherenceQuality issues impacting delivery
• Maintain supplier scorecards and performance dashboards.
• Analyze supplier performance trends and identify risks, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Provide clear performance updates and recommendations to the Supplier Performance Manager and other key stakeholders.
• Use supplier and operational data to drive accountability, recovery actions, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with Production Planning and Materials teams to prioritize shortages and align supply with production requirements.
• Partner with Operations to understand line impact, production sequencing, and critical material needs.
• Coordinate with Supplier Quality to address defects and quality issues impacting delivery.
• Partner with Procurement and Buyers on purchase order management, supplier commitments, and escalations.
• Maintain clear communication across internal teams and suppliers to ensure risks, commitments, and recovery actions are understood and actively managed.
• Maintain regular engagement with assigned suppliers, including onsite visits as required to support performance improvement and recovery activities.
