Position Summary

The Department of Finance is seeking a Student Assistant to provide front office and administrative support. Responsibilities include copying, organizing documents, electronic filing, and assisting with departmental operations and special projects as assigned. This role will also support process improvement initiatives that use AI and large language model (LLM) tools, such as streamlining administrative workflows, drafting and refining documents, and identifying opportunities to automate routine tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States
• Current UT Austin student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Experience using computers, printers, and scanners

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of general administrative duties
• Familiarity with AI/LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot) and interest in applying them to improve administrative processes
• Comfort learning new software and digital workflow tools

Working Conditions

• Standard office environment
• Regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM)
• Repetitive keyboard use
• Schedule to be determined with supervisor
