Block 23What you'll do:
As a Staff Engineer II, you'll provide expertise in a suite of technical tools and products in a given domain to ensure solutions are safe, secure, compliant and reliable. You'll identify, develop and support needs, as well as taking on design responsibilities supporting project tasks. AS the Staff Engineer, II, you'll facilitate dialogue and activities to ensure team collaboration including teams outside of your domain. You'll develop effective presentations and narratives for their teams.- Lead the strategic planning of a project as it relates to technical solution design.
- Design and implement engineering principles aimed at reliability practices and sound recovery procedures.
- Design transaction specific application performance monitoring metrics that can be captured and passed to business partners.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures while also ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and industry standards. Develop desktop procedures when needed that others follow.
- Develop ETL and data pipelines considering how data is created, transformed, maintained, stored, archived, analyzed, and shared across Western Alliance Bank and our partners.
- Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to gain a working understanding of business requirements and operational processes.
- Participate in testing, deployment, and production support activities.
- Perform data exploration and data profiling with tools such as Databricks
- Apply recommendations and designs from Data Governance and Enterprise Architecture to data engineering solutions
- Implement built-in quality and compliance- by-design in all data solutions
- Implement methods to include unstructured data and big data
What you'll need:
- 7+ years of related experience in IT Development, IT Support, or similar field.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering is required.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Additional experience with pipeline development and leveraging Azure DevOps while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with data engineering specifically in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts and processes, enterprise data warehouse capabilities, database principles, and other related tools and technologies; preferably experience with SSIS and Azure Data Factory
- Experience implementing and supporting cloud data solutions; Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Services, and Azure DevOps experience preferred
- Advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals. Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level. Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews and architectural compliance.
- Experience working within Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) solutions
- Strong Experience with at least one RDBMS and query language such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, Spark SQL
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
- May require up to 25% travel.
