Summary
The Sr Director of Supply Chain for the Commercial Production Lab provides strategic and operational leadership across the end-to-end supply chain, including demand and supply planning, inventory management, procurement, warehouse operations, logistics, supplier management, and third-party kit fulfillment. The role ensures uninterrupted support of laboratory operations and patient testing while optimizing inventory investment, service levels, supplier performance, cost, and operational efficiency. The Sr Director leads cross-functional planning and partners with Commercial Production Lab Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Accounting, and external providers to align supply chain capabilities with business growth, compliance requirements, and organizational objectives. The role also builds supply chain talent and uses data, systems, and analytics to improve visibility, resilience, scalability, and decision-making.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the end-to-end supply chain strategy for Commercial Production Lab operations, ensuring material availability, service, quality, compliance, cost-effectiveness, and scalability in support of uninterrupted laboratory operations and patient testing.
- Lead the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, integrating demand forecasts, supply plans, inventory strategies, capacity considerations, and business objectives to support organizational growth and operational performance.
- Provide strategic oversight of demand planning, inventory management, materials control, warehousing, distribution, and third-party kit fulfillment operations, balancing service levels, production readiness, and working capital objectives.
- Establish and lead supplier, logistics, and external partner strategies, including supplier qualification, performance management, contract oversight, continuity planning, and executive-level relationship management.
- Ensure continuity of supply through proactive risk management, business continuity planning, alternate sourcing strategies, and resolution of supply, inventory, and logistics constraints that may impact laboratory operations or patient testing.
- Partner with Commercial Production Lab Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Accounting, and external providers to align supply chain capabilities with operational requirements, quality standards, and business objectives.
- Oversee supply chain systems, planning processes, master data, inventory controls, and reporting capabilities while leveraging ERP/MRP systems, analytics, and performance dashboards to improve visibility, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
- Define and own supply chain performance metrics, operating reviews, and executive reporting, including forecast accuracy, inventory performance, supplier performance, service levels, cost management, and operational risk indicators.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing supply chain organization by establishing clear accountabilities, developing talent, supporting succession planning, and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Develop and manage supply chain operating plans and budgets while driving initiatives that improve efficiency, resilience, scalability, and overall business performance.

Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, Logistics, Finance or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive supply-chain/operations experience.
- Demonstrated expertise across demand and supply planning, inventory optimization, supplier management, warehousing, logistics, risk management, and business continuity.
- Experience leading SIOP/S&OP or an equivalent integrated planning process and communicating risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, supply chain master data, forecasting and inventory analytics, dashboards, and performance management.
- Consistently demonstrates high performance in current responsibilities, with strong attention to detail and minimal errors. Excellence is reflected in the quality and quantity of work produced, reliability, collaboration, and proactive engagement.

Work Environment
- This is a hybrid position requiring both in-office and remote work. The employee will work from our office location in Gaithersburg, MD and remotely from a home office or other suitable location with reliable high-speed internet access. In-office work is performed in a professional office setting with standard lighting, temperature control, and low to moderate noise levels. Remote work is performed in a climate-controlled environment. Standard office equipment including computer, phone, and video conferencing tools are used in both settings. Your standard work schedule and hours will be established in collaboration with your leader and may be adjusted to align with evolving business needs.
