About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer for our data pipeline service to build and work on the data pipeline that moves data from various sources to the data warehouse.The work is very diverse — all the way from patching software to building connectors to optimizing the behavior of sync services operating on our global Kubernetes compute cluster. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the technical excellence of your team and owned services, by reviewing code, contributing to architectural designs, and mentoring your junior colleagues.
This is a full-time position based out of our Bengaluru office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration.
Technologies You’ll Use
- Java, SQL, Mockito, WireMock, Postgres, REST API, SOAP API, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, Azure, BuildKite, Grafana
What You’ll Do
- Work on core features of the product
- Write connectors to integrate with source systems
- Contribute to feature enhancements and bug fixes
- Understand and fix challenges related to performance and scalability
- Participate periodically in on-call rotation
- Make Fivetran the most reliable and secure component of our customers’ data infrastructure
Skills We’re Looking For
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills with 3+ years of professional experience writing code in the production environment
- Experience in reliable distributed systems, with an emphasis on high-volume data management platforms that operate under strict SLAs
- Demonstrated ability to write well-structured and performant code
- Ability to design software solutions that satisfy project requirements
- Expertise in working with Java, popular Cloud platforms, Cloud-based APIs, and databases
- Can troubleshoot problems with existing code
- Comfortable using AI coding assistants (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code, Codex) to accelerate feature development, testing, and debugging.
- Knowledge of observability tools like New Relic/Grafana is a plus
Bonus Skills
- Experience in data processing (ETL, ELT) and/or cloud-based platforms
- Experience with OAuth, webhooks, or rate-limited third-party APIs
