Sobre esta vaga de Socioeconomic Senior Coordinator na ERM

ERM · Presencial · New Delhi, India

ERM is the world’s largest specialist sustainability consultancy, with over 50 years of experience helping organizations navigate complex environmental, social, and governance challenges. We bring together a global community of experts to deliver meaningful impact for our clients and the planet.

Our Consulting Delivery Hub (CDH) in India is a critical part of ERM’s global consulting model enabling scalable, high-quality delivery across regions and service lines. CDH teams work in close partnership with regional consultants to support global client projects, providing specialist expertise, driving consistency, and enhancing delivery efficiency across our most important programmes.

As part of the Consulting Delivery Hub, you will collaborate with colleagues worldwide, contribute to complex sustainability projects, and play a key role in shaping the future of global consulting delivery.

Why this role matters?

As a Socioeconomic Senior Coordinator, you will support ERM's global Capital Project Delivery (CPD) work by providing high-quality socio-economic analysis, impact assessment and social value inputs to major infrastructure, energy, mining and transition projects. You will work within the Social Sustainability sub-team, partnering with regional consultants across NEBU and EMEA (including Impact Assessment, Stakeholder Engagement, Sustainable Finance and Human Rights leads) to deliver robust socio-economic baselines, impact assessments and mitigation frameworks that de-risk projects and maximise positive community outcomes. This role is critical to enabling CPD projects to secure consents, achieve social licence to operate, and meet the growing demand from lenders, regulators and communities for defensible socio-economic evidence.

What your impact is?

  • Deliver socio-economic baseline chapters and impact assessments that stand up to regulator, lender and stakeholder scrutiny, aligned with UK/Irish EIA regimes, IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.

  • Support economic appraisal, quantification of jobs and GVA effects, and social value analysis to strengthen client business cases and consent applications.

  • Contribute to socio-economic evidence for major CPD projects across renewables (onshore/offshore wind, solar, BESS), hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage, transmission & distribution, data centres, mining and project finance.

  • Support stakeholder mapping and engagement inputs that enable meaningful, inclusive assessment of community effects.

  • Produce clear, concise written outputs (report chapters, technical notes, non-technical summaries) that translate complex evidence into insight for clients and communities.

  • Build strong working relationships with technical colleagues across CPD (ecology, cultural heritage, LVIA, noise, air quality, traffic) to ensure integrated, cross-topic assessments.

What will you bring?

  • Experience contributing to EIA/ESIA socio-economics chapters, Social Impact Assessments or business cases for major infrastructure, energy or extractives projects.

  • Familiarity with tools and datasets used in socio-economic assessment (e.g. Nomis, ONS/NRS/NISRA/CSO, Welsh IMD, Indices of Multiple Deprivation, HM Treasury Green Book supplementary guidance).

  • Exposure to global delivery, shared service or hub environments and working with regional consulting teams across time zones.

  • Interest or experience in emerging areas such as social value, community benefits, just transition or deliberative engagement.

Preferred qualifications, skills & competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, human geography, sociology, planning, public policy, development studies or a closely related social science discipline; a master's is desirable.

  • 1–2 years' relevant experience in consulting, research, policy or a related field, ideally including socio-economic analysis, impact assessment or economic appraisal.

  • Working understanding of UK/Irish EIA and consenting regimes (e.g. DCO, Section 36, TCPA) and/or international frameworks such as the IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including analysis of Census, ONS/NRS/NISRA/CSO data, and confidence with Excel; familiarity with HM Treasury Green Book principles is desirable.

  • Ability to structure and write clear, well-evidenced technical outputs for a range of audiences (regulators, clients, communities).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, and the ability to interpret policy and baseline evidence to identify likely significant effects.

  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and deliver to agreed deadlines and quality standards.

  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed team.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare socio-economic baselines drawing on Census, labour market, deprivation, housing, health and tourism data at appropriate spatial scales (national, regional, local, neighbourhood).

  • Support the identification and assessment of likely significant socio-economic effects (employment, GVA, population change, housing, community infrastructure, tourism and recreation, sense of place) across project phases (construction, operation, decommissioning).

  • Contribute to the design and application of assessment methodologies, including sensitivity and magnitude criteria, mitigation hierarchy and cumulative effects analysis.

  • Support stakeholder identification, mapping and engagement inputs into socio-economic scoping and assessment.

  • Draft scoping reports, EIA/ESIA chapters, technical notes, and inputs to Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) and Livelihood Restoration Frameworks.

  • Support quantitative economic modelling (e.g. estimating direct, indirect and induced jobs and GVA) and qualitative analysis of wider socio-economic and sociocultural effects.

  • Assist Managing/Principal Consultants and Directors in project delivery, quality assurance, client liaison and internal team coordination.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK, Irish and international socio-economic policy, guidance and good practice (e.g. ISEP guidance, IFC PS, HM Treasury Green Book, Well-being of Future Generations Act).

  • Contribute to bids, proposals and thought leadership under the direction of senior colleagues.

  • Adhere to ERM's Health & Safety, ethics and quality management systems in all project work.
