The Site Safety Manager is responsible for managing and supporting AMCON Industrial’s safety and health program at the major project level. This position works closely with senior leadership, project leadership, tradesmen, customers, trade partners, and other safety professionals to implement a safety culture and ensure compliance with regulatory, company, and site specific requirements.
Leadership, Management, and Accountability
o Serve as the primary safety resource for all AMCON employees on site.
o Lead project teams to deliver projects in compliance with quality and safety standards.
o Maintain clear communication with superintendents, field teams, and clients throughout all project phases.
· Planning and Hazard Management
o Develop and communicate project safety plans, safe work procedures, and task-specific requirements.
o Support completion of JHAs, AHAs, Pre-Task Plans, and other risk assessments.
o Identify high-risk activities and ensure appropriate procedures are established before work begins.
o Monitor changing site conditions and communicate new or emerging hazards to affected employees.
· Training Qualification, and Workforce Readiness
o Conduct and document AMCON safety orientation and required OSHA, company, customer, and project-specific training.
o Verify employee qualifications, certifications, licenses, medical clearances, and demonstrated competencies as required.
o Coordinate the project safety training schedule and routine toolbox talks, tailgate meetings, and safety discussions.
o Ensure employees receive required PPE and understand its proper selection, use, inspection, care, and limitations.
· Incident Management, Auditing, and Corrective Action
o Conduct routine project safety audits and participate in joint audits as required monitoring compliance with AMCON policies, OSHA regulations, contractual requirements, and site-specific rules.
o Document deficiencies and work with supervisors and project leadership to implement timely corrective actions.
o Investigate incidents, injuries, illnesses, near misses, property damage, and environmental events involving AMCON operations.
o Lead or support root cause analysis and development of corrective actions.
o Track corrective actions through completion and verify their effectiveness.
· Safety Administration and Project Support
o Maintain accurate project safety records, inspections, training documentation, certifications, and required statistical information.
o Ensure safety documentation is current, organized, and readily available.
o Anticipate PPE, safety equipment, and supply needs and coordinate availability with project leadership.
· Customer Relationship Management
o Build and maintain long-term client relationships through consistent communication and reliable project delivery.
o Represent AMCON professionally in all client and partner interactions.
* This role is expected to on site 50 plus hours per week.
Requirements
Qualifications
· Minimum of three years of construction safety experience preferred.
· Experience supporting commercial, industrial, or mission-critical construction projects preferred.
· Four-year degree preferred.
· Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. STSC Certification is required for this role.
· Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.
· OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
· Valid driver's license.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
· Ability to identify hazards and recommend practical risk-control measures.
· Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and accepted construction safety practices.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
· Experience with construction management, documentation, or safety-management software is beneficial.
Physical Requirements
This position requires a combination of office and active construction-site work.
The employee may be required to:
· Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
· Exert up to 25 pounds of force frequently.
· Exert up to 10 pounds of force regularly.
· Walk and stand for extended periods on active construction sites.
· Climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps.
· Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and lift.
· Maintain balance while navigating uneven or elevated work surfaces.
· Read blueprints, safety documentation, written communications, and field measurements.
· Operate computers, phones, printers, and other office equipment.
· Operate a motor vehicle when authorized and required.
· Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Work in environments involving noise, dust, temperature changes, wind, and precipitation.
· Wear required PPE while performing field responsibilities.
Education
A four-year degree is preferred, with Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
Equivalent combinations of applicable construction safety experience, professional certifications, training, and education may also be considered.
