About the role
As a Site Reliability Engineer II on Conga’s Cloud Operations team, you’ll help keep the platform that powers Conga’s products reliable, scalable, and secure. You’ll operate and improve our cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes and the NoSQL data platforms (Cassandra and OpenSearch) that our products depend on, and you’ll use automation and AI to remove toil and shorten the path from alert to resolution.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys owning production systems and making them better every week. You’ll work in a highly connected environment, on a small team that supports a large customer base. That means ramping quickly, building trust across groups, and contributing to shared services used throughout Conga’s platform ecosystem.
What you’ll do
Operate and evolve our Azure cloud platform
- Operate, monitor, and improve production workloads running on Azure, with a focus on availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines so changes are repeatable, reviewed, and safe to ship.
- Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets with product engineering teams, and use them to guide reliability investments.
Run and scale our Kubernetes and NoSQL platforms
- Manage and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters and containerized services, including deployments, scaling, upgrades, and resource tuning.
- Operate Cassandra and OpenSearch clusters, including capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery, upgrades, and replication and consistency tradeoffs.
- Partner with engineering teams on data model, query, and indexing choices that hold up under load.
Automate and apply AI to operations
- Identify repetitive operational work and replace it with well-tested automation, tooling, and self-service workflows.
- Apply AI and machine learning capabilities to improve alert quality, anomaly detection, triage, runbooks, and incident response.
- Evaluate and introduce AI-assisted tooling responsibly, with attention to security, accuracy, and data handling.
Observe, respond, and learn
- Build and tune monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing so teams see problems before customers do.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and lead incident investigation and resolution, including root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
Partner across Conga
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Architecture, Security, and other Cloud Operations teams to deliver secure, reliable platform capabilities.
- Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and operational readiness reviews, and share what you learn with the team.
- Document decisions, dependencies, ownership, and operational responsibilities clearly across team boundaries.
- Engage with support and customer-facing teams on escalations, and work through conflicting priorities with internal stakeholders.
Are you the person we’re looking for?
- 4+ years in site reliability, DevOps, or cloud operations, supporting enterprise SaaS services that operate at scale.
- Hands-on experience running production workloads on Microsoft Azure, including compute, networking, identity, and managed services.
- Experience operating Kubernetes in production, including deployments, scaling, upgrades, troubleshooting, and workload tuning.
- Working experience with NoSQL data stores, ideally Apache Cassandra and OpenSearch, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and recovery.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell, and experience automating operational work.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience building and using observability tooling for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking fundamentals, and reliability practices such as SLOs, capacity planning, and incident management.
- Experience using AI or automation to improve operations, such as intelligent alerting, automated triage, or AI-assisted runbooks and tooling.
- Experience participating in on-call rotations and leading incident response and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills. You can work effectively with engineers, security, product, and support teams, and explain technical tradeoffs clearly to different audiences.
- A collaborative, curious mindset. You influence teams you don’t directly manage through technical credibility, and you share knowledge generously.
Here’s what will give you an edge…
- Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) experience
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar credential
- Deep experience with Cassandra operations at scale (multi-datacenter, compaction tuning, repair strategies) or OpenSearch cluster design and lifecycle management
- Experience with GitOps tooling (Argo CD) and Helm
- Experience building AI-driven or agent-based automation for operations, incident response, or developer self-service
- Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability stacks
- Exposure to security and compliance practices for cloud platforms, such as SOC 2 controls, secrets management, and policy-as-code
