By joining Rolls-Royce, you'll have the opportunity to work on world-class solutions, supported by a culture that believes individuality is our greatest strength, and all perspectives, experiences and backgrounds help us innovate and enable our high-performance culture.

Role Overview

The Site Financial Controller partners with the Plant Finance Manager and a key member of the site finance leadership team. The role owns plant financial control and performance management, translating production, supply chain and engineering activity into clear financial insight. It is responsible for reliable reporting, robust product costing, disciplined inventory and capital management, and proactive support for productivity and profitability across the PowerGen assembly operation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Plant Financial Governance and Business Partnering

  • Partner with the Plant Finance Manager and with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering and Procurement leaders.
  • Maintain a strong control environment across plant processes, ensuring compliance with group financial policies, delegated authorities and audit requirements.
  • Provide forward-looking insight, constructively challenge operational assumptions and translate plant performance into clear financial actions.
  • Drive ownership of profitability, cost, cash and working capital across the site.

Planning, Forecasting and Plant Performance Management

  • Lead the annual budget, long-range plan and rolling forecast for production volumes, revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, headcount, capital expenditure, inventory and free cash flow.
  • Align financial plans with the sales and operations planning cycle, production schedules, capacity assumptions and material requirements.
  • Analyse monthly results against plan and forecast, identify root causes and agree corrective actions with accountable leaders.
  • Develop and monitor plant performance indicators, including labour and overhead absorption, productivity, utilisation, scrap, rework, inventory turns, on-time output and cost of poor quality.
  • Prepare scenario and sensitivity analyses to support capacity, sourcing, pricing and operational decisions.
  • Own a structured monthly plant performance review, with clear actions, owners, deadlines and follow-up, converting analysis into operating discipline.

Product Costing, Inventory and Manufacturing Control

  • Own standard costing and ensure bills of material, routings, labour rates, machine rates and overhead allocations are complete, current and appropriately governed.
  • Analyse purchase price, material usage, labour efficiency, production volume, overhead absorption, scrap and other manufacturing variances; recommend and track corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation and effective controls over raw materials, work in progress and finished goods.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain on cycle counts, stocktakes, slow-moving and obsolete inventory, excess stock, provisions and working-capital reduction.
  • Support product and project profitability reviews, make-or-buy assessments and cost transparency for new or changed configurations.
  • Review customer and project margin assumptions, pricing support, warranty exposure, cost-to-serve and margin leakage, connecting plant finance more directly with commercial outcomes.

Closing, Reporting and Compliance

  • Prepare concise management reporting and communicate key performance drivers, risks and opportunities to site and Finance leadership.
  • Maintain effective balance-sheet controls and reconciliations for plant-related finance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requirements and ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Safeguard the quality and integrity of financial and operational master data.

CAPEX, Productivity and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead financial evaluation of plant investments, including business cases, payback, return and risk analysis.
  • Control approved capital expenditure from authorisation through commissioning and post-investment review.
  • Quantify, validate and track productivity and cost-reduction initiatives, ensuring benefits are visible in financial results.
  • Support lean manufacturing, value-stream and process-improvement initiatives with fact-based financial analysis.
  • Improve Finance processes, systems, controls and reporting automation across the plant.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Financial Controlling, Plant Finance, FP&A, Manufacturing Finance, Cost Accounting or Commercial Finance roles.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing, assembly, engineering, energy, power generation or industrial products environment.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, production variances, inventory valuation, overhead absorption and manufacturing performance management.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, month-end closing, management reporting and business performance reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Procurement and Commercial teams.
  • Experience reviewing product, project or customer profitability, including margin assumptions, cost-to-serve, warranty exposure and margin leakage.
  • Exposure to CAPEX business cases, productivity tracking, working-capital management and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Experience operating within global matrix organizations and working with regional or divisional Finance leadership.
  • Knowledge of power generation, industrial manufacturing, energy infrastructure or assembly operations is highly desirable.

Skills and Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong financial control mindset with the ability to balance governance, operational support and business growth.
  • Robust commercial and operational acumen, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence decisions.
  • Advanced analytical, financial modelling, forecasting and variance analysis capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, ERP systems, costing tools and financial reporting platforms.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills across finance and non-finance teams.
  • Structured, detail-oriented and action-driven, with strong ownership of follow-up and closure.
  • High integrity, independence and resilience in a complex operating environment.
