Overview
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and shipping materials and products while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting daily warehouse operations. This position ensures all shipments and receipts are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, audit, repack, and pack away incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Prepare and process outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and complete inventory transactions in company systems.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Organize and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Coordinate with operations, suppliers, customers, carriers, and logistics regarding shipments, deliveries, and material flow.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and properly use required PPE.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, defects, and shipping issues to management daily.
- Monitor team workflow to ensure adherence to customer-specific requirements and quality standards.
- Evaluate team performance and provide structured feedback to Project Coordinators.
- Ensure proper segregation, documentation, and control of non-conforming and scrap materials.
- Perform scrap analysis and reporting.
- Assist with Layered Process Audits (LPA).
- Support calibration verification and equipment control processes.
- Maintain accurate inspection records in compliance with QMS requirements.
- Contribute to corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives.
- Support document control and data integrity procedures.
- Participate in internal quality audits and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, logistics, or inventory experience.
- 2-3 years team leadership experience.
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory, warehouse, or quality data reporting systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytical, and mathematical abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a warehouse environment.
- Excellent customer-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Forklift, pallet jack, or reach truck experience or certification.
- Willingness to operate a telehandler; certification training provided, prior experience not required.
- Automotive or manufacturing experience.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Hands-on experience with precision inspection tools (calipers, pin gauges, micrometers, height gages).
Education
Some technical training in manufacturing or quality systems preferred. QMS, ISO, or AS9102 certification a plus.
