Service Engineer

Location: Mobile -  Covering Somerset region 

Salary: Competitive,  plus Veolia Benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you'll be doing:

  • Carry out planned, preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across Veolia sites.
  • Install, maintain, repair and replace pumps, valves, pipework and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults, identify root causes and complete effective repairs on mechanical plant and pumping systems.
  • Respond to breakdowns and emergency callouts, making equipment safe and restoring operation as quickly as possible.
  • Complete pipework installations, modifications, repairs and leak rectification works, including the inspection and commissioning of completed work.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete PPM schedules and report on outstanding work, recurring faults and improvement opportunities.

What we're looking for:

  • A recognised mechanical engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, apprenticeship or equivalent; HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Practical experience installing, maintaining and repairing pumps, pipework, valves and mechanical plants.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with experience diagnosing breakdowns and identifying effective repair solutions.
  • Experience of planned and reactive maintenance in an industrial, utilities, water, waste, process or facilities environment.
  • Experience responding to emergency breakdowns and participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota, with a good understanding of safe systems of work.
  •  A full UK driving licence, willingness to travel across London and strong communication skills are essential; electrical, instrumentation, PLC, SCADA or ECI experience would be advantageous.
