Role Scope & Purpose
The SEO Specialist is responsible for developing and executing search engine optimization strategies that improve organic search visibility, drive qualified traffic, and support business growth objectives. This role covers the full spectrum of SEO, technical, on-page, and off-page, and requires a combination of analytical rigor, content understanding, and technical aptitude. The SEO Specialist works closely with content, development, and marketing teams to ensure SEO best practices are embedded across all relevant activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies across technical, on-page, and off-page dimensions.
- Conduct keyword research to identify high-value opportunities and inform content strategy.
- Perform technical SEO audits and work with development teams to resolve issues such as crawlability, site speed, structured data, and Core Web Vitals.
- Optimize website content, metadata, internal linking structures, and page architecture.
- Develop and execute link-building strategies to improve domain authority.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on organic search performance using tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Moz.
- Collaborate with content teams to develop SEO-optimized content briefs and ensure content aligns with search intent.
- Track algorithm updates and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Conduct competitive SEO analysis to identify gaps and opportunities.
- Provide regular SEO performance reports and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on SEO experience, with a track record of improving organic rankings and traffic.
- Proficiency in SEO tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, or Screaming Frog.
- Strong understanding of technical SEO principles including site architecture, crawl budget, and schema markup.
- Experience with Google Search Console and Google Analytics.
- Solid keyword research and content strategy skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple SEO projects simultaneously.
- Strong written communication skills for reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment for team calls.
- Availability to work US time zones.
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor.
Nice to Have
- Experience with local SEO or multi-location SEO strategies.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to SEO.
- Experience in e-commerce SEO, including product pages, category optimization, and structured data for products.
- Knowledge of content management systems such as WordPress or Shopify.
- Experience with link-building outreach at scale.
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) certification or equivalent.
