As a Staff Software Engineer in the Detection Platform group, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the architecture of the cloud-native systems that power our AI SIEM detection, hunting, and response capabilities, including large-scale real-time detection engines, stateful detection engines, anomaly detections, ML pipelines, agentic SOC and threat-hunting capabilities. You will participate in the design and execution of backend systems that process billions of events and several petabytes of data daily and serve tens of thousands of security specialists at enterprise and government customers worldwide.

What Will You Do?

Primary responsibilities include:

• Operational Excellence: Own the full lifecycle of large-scale production services - design, develop (mostly in Go and/or Java), test, deploy, and operate them while holding a high bar for observability, performance, and reliability - from proactive monitoring and diagnostics through incident response.
• Technical Evolution: Keep the existing codebase healthy through ongoing refactoring and disciplined delivery of fixes and features, while continuously evaluating and adopting new technologies that address the scale and complexity of our data challenges.
• System Design at Scale: Lead the design and implementation of highly available, low-latency, cloud-native services built to process high volume of events, keeping them reliable and performant for the world’s largest enterprises and governments.
• AI-Native Engineering: Leverage AI across the development process and raise the bar for how we design, review, and ship products.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Drive complex initiatives that span multiple teams to completion, align engineering, product, and design on technical direction, and act as a key stakeholder in cross-organizational architecture reviews.
• Requirements into Architecture: Turn vaguely specified, complex requirements into robust, scalable, operable end-to-end designs that fit the overall data architecture, and define the coding patterns and standards other teams build on.
• Mentorship & Growth: Elevate the engineering bar as a recognized subject-matter expert whose input others seek out, mentoring other software engineers in the team and fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

Ideal candidates will have:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with deep production-level mastery of Go and/or Java (Python a plus), and a strong track record of building and operating high-scale distributed backend services.
• A track record of being a recognized subject-matter expert others seek out to review and elevate their designs, with a passion for building high-scale distributed systems.
• Deep experience with AWS and/or GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Postgres, Redis, Kafka.
• Hands-on experience leveraging AI in the development process (e.g. AI coding assistants and agentic dev tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot) and a desire to reshape how a team builds software to better utilize AI.
• The ability to turn vaguely specified, complex requirements into efficient, future-proof end-to-end designs, and to drive multi-team initiatives and influence the engineering roadmap.
• Strategic communication: able to articulate complex technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to swiftly delve into new products, and to collaborate effectively with local and remote teams across time zones.
• Customer focus: you care about delivering value and want to hear directly from customers on how to evolve your systems.
• Previous experience developing security-related products is a strong advantage.
