Do work that matters:
As a Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack, you’ll be a hands-on individual contributor within the Digital Growth Engineering Chapter, part of the Digital and Growth Engine Crew in our Digital Technology Home Buying Domain. With Python as a key focus, you’ll design, build and evolve production-grade services and applications across the full stack, contributing from backend APIs and integrations through to customer-facing experiences.
You’ll own engineering outcomes across the full software development lifecycle, from solution design and coding through testing, deployment, observability and continuous improvement. This is a role for an experienced engineer who still loves to code, solve complex technical problems and take real ownership of what they build, while lifting engineering standards and delivering technology that directly improves our digital home-buying experiences.

The Digital Growth Engine Crew sits within Home Buying Technology, building and evolving the digital experiences that help customers navigate one of life’s biggest decisions: buying a home. The chapter brings together modern engineering, experimentation and data-led thinking to create fast, intuitive and scalable customer journeys, while continually improving how customers discover, engage with and move through CBA’s home-buying ecosystem. Their work directly supports digital growth, removes friction from critical experiences and delivers measurable value for customers, bankers and business stakeholders, making technology a genuine driver of better customer outcomes and sustainable growth.
We’re interested in hearing from people who
- Have strong Python engineering experience, building robust, scalable and maintainable backend services, APIs and applications.
- Bring full-stack capability, confidently working across backend systems and modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Practise full-cycle engineering, taking solutions from discovery, design and architecture through development, testing, deployment and production support.
- Embrace a “you build it, you own it” mindset, taking accountability for the reliability, performance and ongoing evolution of services in production.
- Have hands-on experience building and operating applications in the cloud, using modern cloud-native patterns, containers and infrastructure automation.
- Understand modern DevOps and CI/CD practices, including automated testing, deployment, observability, monitoring and incident management.
- Thrive in cross-functional engineering teams, contributing to technical design decisions while continuously improving code quality, security, scalability and customer outcomes.

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but having significant experience and exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team

- Testing & Quality: Pytest, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, TDD, unit, integration, API and end-to-end testing
- Full-Cycle Engineering: Solution design, development, code review, deployment, observability, production support, troubleshooting, performance optimisation
