The Opportunity
Sustainability Program Manager
We're looking for an experienced Sustainability Manager to turn Adyen’s environmental strategy into action across the business.
In this role, you'll support, guide and lead the way we make progress against Adyen’s climate commitments, helping teams across the business deliver with clear owners, milestones and follow-through. You’ll be ensuring our sustainability priorities stay on track, and that our climate funding is executed.
You’ll work closely with our Global Sustainability Lead, and you’ll ensure the strategy is translated into implementation and that we execute against it. You’ll partner with specialist teams across Procurement, Workplace and Finance, and with business owners in Engineering, Events, Comms and HR, so that sustainability is embedded in operational decisions.
As a highly collaborative, strategic thinker and strong communicator, you enjoy turning complexity into engaging and clear solutions and collaborating in a commercial and fast-moving environment. You’re an exceptional program manager with a track record of delivering cross-functional sustainability programs in global, fast-paced environments. This is a rare opportunity to shape how a global payments company embeds sustainability into its everyday operations and delivers meaningful outcomes for people and the planet.
What You’ll Work On
- Climate Target Program Delivery
- Drive the execution of Adyen’s environmental strategy and climate commitments across renewable electricity, supplier engagement and business travel. Coordinate owners, milestones, dependencies, follow-ups and escalations.
- Work with specialist teams in Sustainable Procurement, Workplace (business travel) and Finance (ESG measurement and reporting) to keep programs that depend on their expertise moving and resolve blockers.
- Support in-house execution of our climate funding strategy, tracking actions and supporting internal activation alongside the Global Sustainability Lead.
- Sustainability Business Partnering
- Act as the day-to-day sustainability partner for teams such as Workplace, Engineering, Procurement, Events, Comms and HR, embedding sustainability into operational decisions and shared ownership.
- Support emerging areas such as workplace sustainability, employee engagement and environmental guidance for AI and technology, developing a coherent approach rather than responding ad hoc.
- Data & Insights
- Maintain program data across key programs (such as travel data, supplier engagement insights, AI usage and the carbon removal tracker), analyzing it to find delivery gaps and give leadership and key stakeholders decision-ready insights.
Who You Are
- You have 5+ years of cross-functional program management experience in corporate sustainability, climate or ESG, ideally delivering programs that depend on input from many teams.
- You have working knowledge of corporate climate topics such as GHG accounting, renewable electricity, business travel and supplier decarbonization, and can translate them into practical actions for the business.
- You influence, guide and align senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders around shared objectives, and know how to follow up and escalate to resolve blockers without owning every function yourself.
- You use data to drive decisions and tell the story. You can analyze program metrics and turn them into insights that identify delivery gaps and shape priorities.
- You communicate clearly and can effectively use storytelling to engage different audiences, from employees across offices to senior leaders, tech through to sales teams.
- You take ownership and show initiative. You are a creative problem solver who thrives in ambiguity, adapts quickly and finds solutions independently, whilst being equally comfortable collaborating with others.
- You are passionate about meaningful environmental impact, and pragmatic about what it takes to run and scale programs effectively.
- You are comfortable working with platforms and tooling, including AI, to improve ways of working, solve problems faster and make sustainability programs more efficient and scalable.
