POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to support the Sony Engagement Platform, partnering with Sony operating companies to identify emerging fraud risks, strengthen detection and prevention capabilities, and execute data-driven mitigation strategies across global platform operations. You’ll work cross-functionally with data scientists, ML engineers, fraud strategists, payments strategists and analysts, and Sony Engagement Platform to identify fraud patterns, optimize detection systems, and drive strategic initiatives that balance risk reduction with user experience. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Own ongoing monitoring of fraud performance, transaction trends, identity signals, and operational indicators across Sony operating companies, producing actionable reporting, issue tracking, and insights that identify anomalies, customer friction, control gaps, and optimization opportunities. 

• Lead advanced analytical investigations into fraud trends across digital and physical goods, account activity, entitlements, identity signals, payments, and platform behavior to identify root causes, quantify risk exposure, and recommend mitigation strategies. 

• Independently analyze large, complex datasets using advanced SQL to validate fraud hypotheses, uncover behavioral patterns, and develop scalable queries, dashboards, and reporting logic that support detection, alerting, and decision-making. 

• Partner with SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment) Global Fraud, Risk, & Identity and Sony Engagement Platform stakeholders to interpret fraud data, assess business impact, and translate findings into practical recommendations. 

• Build and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and alerting frameworks to monitor fraud activity, operational performance, mitigation effectiveness, and emerging risk trends across global platform operations. 

• Evaluate the effectiveness of fraud controls, detection rules, risk signals, and operational processes, identifying opportunities to improve precision, reduce false positives, minimize customer friction, and strengthen prevention capabilities. 

• Document repeatable processes, configuration requirements, escalation paths, investigation procedures, and operational playbooks for fraud monitoring, risk mitigation, and identity-related risk workflows across Sony Engagement Platform services. 

• Support strategic fraud and risk initiatives by preparing data-driven insights, executive-ready summaries, and recommendations that help stakeholders make informed decisions in a fast-paced, global environment. 

• Flexibility to accommodate meetings with global colleagues and partners across time zones is expected. 
• Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION 

Your qualifications and experience should include:   

• 8+ years of experience in fraud analytics, risk strategy, or a related quantitative field.  

• Expert-level SQL proficiency, with a proven track record of independently writing complex queries to investigate large-scale datasets, uncover behavioral patterns, and support data-driven decision-making in high-risk environments.  

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, Splunk).  

• Deep understanding of fraud typologies, risk scoring, and the fraud lifecycle in eCommerce or digital platforms.  

• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.  

• Experience with big data platforms (e.g., Snowflake), rule engines, and experimentation frameworks. Proficiency using approved AI tools to accelerate analysis, identify patterns, synthesize complex inputs and support documentation, while validating outputs and applying appropriate judgment around data sensitivity. 

• Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $155,000 to $175,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
