We are currently expanding and looking to add an experienced Senior Reefer Technical Manager to support our North American operations. This position can be based in Brampton / Greater Toronto Area (Ontario), Dallas–Fort Worth (Texas), or Querétaro (Mexico).

We are looking for a highly experienced transport refrigeration professional with a strong hands-on technical background in refrigerated trailers and Thermo King and/or Carrier Transicold equipment.

The ideal candidate will combine advanced troubleshooting expertise with technical leadership, helping improve fleet reliability, minimize equipment downtime and develop the technical capabilities of our maintenance teams across North America.

English proficiency is a must.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex refrigerated trailer breakdowns, troubleshooting and recurring equipment failures across North American operations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration systems, diesel engines, electrical components, electronic controls and temperature-control issues, particularly involving Thermo King and Carrier Transicold equipment.
• Interpret manufacturer fault codes, alarm histories, diagnostic reports and temperature data to identify equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance to drivers, mechanics, breakdown coordinators and maintenance teams during critical roadside breakdowns and temperature-control incidents.
• Coordinate technical recovery plans for refrigerated equipment breakdowns, working closely with dispatch, operations and external service providers to minimize downtime and protect temperature-sensitive cargo.
• Conduct root-cause analysis of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve refrigerated trailer reliability and prevent future breakdowns.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guidelines and standardized repair practices across multiple terminals.
• Train, mentor and support reefer mechanics and maintenance personnel, helping strengthen their technical knowledge and independent diagnostic capabilities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Thermo King, Carrier Transicold and authorized service providers, coordinating technical escalations, warranty claims, repair recommendations and manufacturer training.
• Monitor maintenance records, equipment performance, engine hours and telematics data to identify trends, improve repair quality and reduce unnecessary maintenance expenses.
• Collaborate with operations, dispatch, customer service and senior management to communicate technical issues, recommend solutions and support incident investigations involving potential cargo claims.
• Travel periodically to terminals, maintenance facilities and manufacturer locations as required.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

1. 8–12+ years of experience in transport refrigeration, refrigerated trailers or commercial refrigeration equipment, including significant hands-on repair and troubleshooting experience.
2. Advanced technical knowledge of Thermo King and/or Carrier Transicold refrigeration systems.
3. Proven experience diagnosing complex refrigeration, diesel engine, electrical and electronic control-system failures.
4. Previous experience as a Senior Reefer Technician, Master Technician, Technical Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor or Technical Service Manager.
5. Strong understanding of refrigerated trailer operations and temperature-controlled transportation.
6. Experience leading, mentoring or training mechanics and technical maintenance personnel.
7. Ability to interpret diagnostic software, manufacturer fault codes, maintenance records and equipment performance reports.
8. Experience coordinating repairs with external vendors, authorized service centers and equipment manufacturers.
9. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly when handling critical equipment breakdowns and time-sensitive operational situations.
10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
11. English proficiency is required. Spanish proficiency is considered an asset.
12. Willingness to travel periodically across North American terminals and maintenance facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Thermo King or Carrier Transicold manufacturer training and advanced technical certifications.
• Experience supporting large refrigerated trailer fleets across multiple locations.
• Knowledge of reefer telematics and remote equipment monitoring systems.
• Experience with manufacturer warranty programs and root-cause failure investigations.
• Applicable refrigerant-handling certifications.

Formal engineering education is considered an asset but is not mandatory for candidates with exceptional hands-on technical experience.
