ForMotion Clinic Australia is seeking a Senior Prosthetist to join our team.
About the Role
As Senior Prosthetist, you are responsible for delivering advanced prosthetic services that support clients in achieving their identified goals and outcomes, while providing clinical leadership and professional expertise across the organisation. Responsibilities at this level are performed with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement. The clinician is expected to provide clinical leadership, advanced decision-making and support to less experienced clinicians while contributing to high-quality patient outcomes and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently managing complex prosthetic presentations including multi-limb loss, high activity patients, challenging residual limb presentations and cases requiring advanced clinical reasoning
- Casting, evaluating, modifying and fitting prostheses where required to achieve the required goals and outcomes
- Reviewing the client at appropriate intervals to evaluate fit, function, quality and safety of the prosthesis
- Communicating effectively with clinical team, technical team, other health care providers and clients to deliver appropriate client care within scope of responsibility level
- Developing and managing complex client treatment plans through the collection, interpretation and critical evaluation of clinical information to achieve agreed goals and outcomes
- Leading prosthetic input within multidisciplinary amputee clinics and providing advanced clinical recommendations in collaboration with medical, nursing and allied health colleagues
- Adhering to workplace safety requirements and identifying and minimising potential risks wherever possible
- Undertaking and contributing to professional development through critical appraisal of evidence, reflective practice and implementation of contemporary prosthetic technologies and clinical approaches
- Maintaining accurate records of all client attendance, occasion and type of services and documenting all aspects of client care
- Taking a lead role in mentoring and assisting with developing Prosthetists
- Identifying opportunities to improve clinical services, patient pathways and operational processes to support ongoing organisational development
- Supporting the evaluation, introduction and optimisation of emerging prosthetic technologies, components and clinical practices
- Understanding and conforming to funding arrangements, required administration and reporting requirements
- Participating in key annual trade shows and conventions as required
- Ensuring all clinical activity fulfils or exceeds the competency standards of the profession and Formotion Clinics
- Ensuring that all behaviour is in line with the company’s values, Code of Conduct and other relevant policies
- Leading or significantly contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives that enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent
- Current Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association (AOPA) membership or eligibility and willingness to obtain membership
- Extensive, proven in role experience as a Prosthetist
- In depth understanding of the health service and prosthetic industry
- Advanced level of client focus with internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced attention to detail, focus and accuracy skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; strong decision-making skills
