Senior Product Security Event Detection Engineer

Boeing is seeking a Product Security Event Detection Engineer (Level 4) to join the Risk Management Capability team onsite in Seattle, WA or Everett, WA. This position serves as a senior technical contributor for the development and sustainment of detection capabilities, methods, and tools that help ensure the security, safety, and resiliency of digitally connected Boeing airplane models.

 

You will be a part of Boeing's Product Security Engineering Organization, which is a growing multi-disciplinary cybersecurity engineering organization that is responsible for the cyber security and resiliency of our products, platforms, and services. You will have the opportunity to shape and influence Product Security Engineering within Boeing and engage with Boeing’s Product Security community.

 

The selected candidate will apply advanced product security and log analytics expertise to support engineering, customer, supplier, and industry interfaces, with a focus on detection engineering, risk analysis, and continued airworthiness.

 

 

Primary responsibilities:

• Leads the development of technical solutions for complex product security and detection engineering challenges affecting digitally connected airplane models.
• Develops technical data and documentation in accordance with system security engineering processes and procedures for internal and external delivery.
• Coordinates with security testers to validate coverage and assess impacts to analysis and detection capability.
• Interfaces with external customers and internal stakeholders on detection capabilities in alignment with continued airworthiness strategies.
• Supports the development, implementation, and communication of sustainment programs to maintain continued product security, safety, and resiliency of in-service airplane models.
• Leads and participates in the definition and identification of product security requirements for suppliers of components and subsystems integrated into Boeing products and services.
• Collaborates with governments, customers, suppliers, and industry partners to identify risks and improve security standards and requirements for programs and interfacing systems.
• Leads and participates in research and development efforts that improve detection capabilities, methods, tools, and technical approaches.

 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 9+ years of experience in engineering related field (ie. Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry)
• Experience in systems engineering, systems integration, software engineering, electrical engineering, certification, network security, and/or cybersecurity.
• Experience supporting or working with manufacturing or engineering teammates or in a manufacturing or engineering environment

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

• Experience with system security engineering or systems engineering

• Experience with network and host-based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) and Security Incident Event Management (SIEM)
• Experience analyzing technical data and providing clear written and verbal presentation of the results
• Experience with scripting languages such as, ACL, SQL Developer, Oracle, XML, MySQL, Python
• Experience with system administration of complex infrastructure and software development systems
• Security+, a CISSP certification, or equivalent Cyber Security certification
• Experience with system administration of complex infrastructure and software development systems

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

 

Summary Pay Range: $173,400 - $234,600
