Senior Producer – Live Racing

Trackside is New Zealand’s premier racing broadcaster, delivering live thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing coverage across the country and internationally. Our production team plays a vital role in bringing the excitement, information and stories of racing to life. 

As a Senior Producer, you’ll work closely with the Executive Producer to lead the delivery of live racing content across Trackside channels. Combining racing and wagering knowledge with editorial judgement, production expertise and people leadership, you’ll help shape daily coverage, feature carnivals, major race days and Trackside’s on-air and social presentation.   

Your Day with Trackside 

As our Senior Producer, you’ll lead the editorial and production delivery of live racing coverage while supporting the development of the wider Production team. Here’s a snapshot of your day: 

• Lead the delivery of accurate and engaging live racing coverage across Trackside channels 
• Produce current programming and identify opportunities for new shows, features and content 
• Plan and deliver content for feature carnivals, blue-riband events and major race days, including line producing at the track 
• Prepare accurate daily rundowns and promotional content plans, ensuring production teams have clear direction 
• Coach and develop producers while working closely with internal teams, broadcast partners and racing stakeholders 

This is an Auckland-based role working Tuesday to Saturday. The position will include rostered weekend work, feature race days and other operational requirements associated with live racing production. Some flexibility to work from home may be available. 

What You’ll Bring 

• Extensive knowledge of racing and wagering, including racing codes, participants, venues, form, betting products, markets and wagering audiences 
• Proven experience producing or leading live television, sports, racing or similarly fast-paced content 
• People-leadership experience, including coaching and developing producers or other production team members 
• Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, across racing, production, editorial and technical teams 
• Excellent organisation, attention to detail and resilience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines  
• A strong sense of ownership, with the confidence to make sound decisions when plans change or pressure increases 

Nice to Have

• Experience planning and delivering major or blue-riband race days, including outside broadcast production 
• Strong storytelling and programming capability, with experience developing features, interviews, programmes or other compelling content 
• Experience improving production workflows and standards while developing more accurate and engaging producers
