Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Patient Collections Representative. This position helps patients understand and resolve balances through accurate account review, respectful communication, payment options, financial-assistance resources, documentation, and follow-through.
Position Details:
- Location: Northbrook, IL
- Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday (onsite)
- Compensation: $23-$29hr based on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review charges, insurance processing, payments, adjustments, secondary coverage, and statements before collection activity.
- Communicate balances and payment options clearly and respectfully.
- Establish approved payment plans and support financial-assistance workflows.
- Process payments and maintain accurate account documentation.
- Resolve or route disputed balances and follow issues through correct disposition.
- Protect privacy and comply with approved collection practices.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2-5 years of healthcare patient financial services, medical-office customer service, call-center collections, or related experience.
- Basic understanding of patient responsibility, insurance explanations, payment processing, documentation, and customer service.
- Strong ownership, follow-through, documentation, prioritization, and escalation judgment.
- Ability to work accurately in a high-volume, deadline-driven healthcare environment.
- Ability to identify discrepancies, communicate clearly, and collaborate across departments.
- Commitment to privacy, compliance, quality, continuous improvement, and respectful service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical-office or patient-account experience.
- Financial-assistance, payment-plan, bilingual customer-service, or healthcare portal experience.
