About this role

This role protects JET's people agenda by bringing senior legal judgement to complex employment and labour matters. It improves consistency in case handling, reduces litigation and regulatory risk, and helps HR and market teams make confident decisions on sensitive workforce issues.

These are some of the key components to the position: 

• Lead senior-level legal support for employment and labour matters in the UK and other markets, including complex employee relations, disputes and litigation.
• Advise HR, Operations and market leadership on non-routine employment issues, reorganisations, disciplinary matters, workforce policies and labour risk.
• Define practical legal positions, escalation thresholds and recommended actions for sensitive matters with financial, operational or reputational exposure.
• Manage external counsel and coordinate litigation, authority engagement and settlement activity where required.
• Develop and maintain templates, guidance and playbooks that improve consistency in employment case handling.
• Monitor relevant legal developments and translate them into practical updates for HR and business stakeholders. Coach more junior colleagues on employment law analysis, documentation quality and matter management where needed.

What will you bring to the team?

• Qualified lawyer with a proven track record of employment or labour law experience in the UK jurisdiction is required.
• Experience advising HR and business leaders on complex employee relations, disputes and litigation is required.
• Strong judgement on sensitive people matters, escalation decisions and reputational risk is required.
• Ability to translate legal requirements into workable policies, templates and operational guidance is required.
• Experience managing external counsel, courts, tribunals or labour authorities is required.
• Experience in a multi-country, marketplace, logistics or operationally complex business is preferred.
• Whilst UK employment law will be the main focus of this role, being comfortable in researching and advising on international matters and country specific matters outside of the UK will be required. 
• Proficiency in AI use and implementation to streamline tasks and processes is preferred.
