About the role

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial accounting, reporting and control activities across the business. This role is suited to a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, supporting business change and ensuring accurate, well-controlled financial outcomes. You will work closely with business stakeholders to maintain financial data integrity and compliance with accounting standards, while supporting the ongoing evolution of finance systems and processes.

Role responsibilities include:

• Prepare and own month-end accounting activities, including accruals, prepayments, amortisation and reclassification journals.
• Maintain the accuracy, completeness and integrity of the general ledger in accordance with accounting policies and standards.
• Manage balance sheet controls, investigate reconciliation items and maintain robust audit trails across month-end and year-end activities.
• Prepare statutory financial statements, disclosures, audit support, technical accounting documentation and supporting board papers.
• Support improvements to financial processes, controls, reporting and data quality, and participate in finance transformation and system implementation initiatives.
• Build effective stakeholder relationships and resolve accounting, reporting, reconciliation, data and operational queries across finance and business systems.

About you

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or another related discipline, together with a CA or CPA qualification.
• At least five years’ experience in a similar role, within a financial services environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and practical experience applying accounting standards.
• Experience using Workday, preferred, or another comparable finance system, with strong Microsoft Excel and MS Office proficiency.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently, manage priorities and drive continuous improvement.
