As Instrument and Electrical Packaging Senior Engineer (Senior Engineer, Product Design and Engineering - Automation & Control), you will act as the primary interface between Instrumentation Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Electrical Packager Suppliers, ensuring technical compliance, execution readiness, and scalable design solutions that support business growth, operational efficiency, and flawless project execution for packaging activities.
You will lead initiatives aimed at reducing defects, improving first-pass yield, accelerating execution, and strengthening supplier integration while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and Baker Hughes engineering practices.
Moreover, as a Senior Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing electrical and instrumentation systems and arrangements in compliance with international standards, for the assigned projects, supporting business-critical projects and ensuring technical excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance.
As Instrument and Electrical Packaging Senior Engineer (Senior Engineer, Product Design and Engineering - Automation & Control), you will be responsible for:
- Lead business-critical projects through the execution of Instrumentation engineering activities, ensuring compliance with applicable international standards, customer requirements, safety regulations, and engineering best practices. Design and review instrumentation and electrical systems, documentation, and technical deliverables, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as the engineering focal point for Electrical and Instrumentation packaging initiatives, collaborating closely with Procurement and Manufacturing to propose and execute packaging strategies. Facilitate interactions identifying opportunities to improve collaboration, streamline processes, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Be accountable, own and drive the resolution of Design-related NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and support the team for the closure of Oracle Punch Points, identifying root causes and implementing continuous improvement and loop-back actions to improve quality performance and manufacturability.
- Participate in the Early Engagement process and weekly manufacturing OTD predictability assessments, providing technical guidance and supporting projects execution
- Promote technical solutions that balance compliance, quality, manufacturability, and execution efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with Standardization Leader, Tool Owner, Controlled Title Holders (CTHs), and Product Support Engineering (PSE) teams to ensure lessons learned and corrective actions are effectively incorporated into standards, tools, and engineering practices.
- Be responsible for the long-term quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing NCRs, and Punch Points in alignment with Quality KPIs and organizational objectives.
- Facilitate and support the qualification and introduction of new suppliers for Electrical and Instrumentation packaging activities.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
- Have significant experience in Instrumentation engineering within industrial, energy, process, or manufacturing environments, with proven involvement in the execution of complex engineering projects.
- Have a solid knowledge of instrumentation design processes, engineering tools, and applicable industry codes and standards.
- Have experience collaborating with Manufacturing, Procurement, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful project execution and manufacturability.
- Have a strong understanding of Electrical and Instrumentation installation practices, including cable routing and equipment integration.
- Be able to evaluate and manage engineering changes throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with established design review and change management processes.
- Have experience in working with engineering lifecycle management tools, ERP systems, and product data management environments (e.g., Oracle, PLM, or equivalent platforms).
- Have solid understanding of product quality processes, including Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Oracle Punch Point, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Be familiar with supplier qualification, supplier technical oversight, and the review of engineering deliverables provided by external partners.
- Be familiar with 3D modeling tools, preferably Siemens NX and Autocad.

The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 45,087 To 83,000. The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay.
