Senior Employment Counsel - London

Marsh is seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to join our team in London.

The nearly 500 colleagues of the Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs department assist with legal issues; promote compliance with law, regulation and standards of ethical conduct; address public policy issues crucial to our businesses; and provide risk-management support solutions. We will count on you to:

The Senior Employment Counsel provides day-to-day advice and counselling to management, Human Resources, Employee Relations, and other lawyers on a full spectrum of labour and employment law matters, as well as restrictive covenant issues, confronting Marsh’s businesses. The position includes managing a full range of employment-related claims and litigation in the UK, the focus of the role, and also supporting the businesses in the EU and internationally, as well as working cooperatively internally.

• Manage employment, restrictive covenant, and benefits-related claims and litigation, including dispute resolution, and manage outside counsel.

• Provide legal advice and counsel to management and Human Resource professionals and assist other employment lawyers on a broad range of employment issues, including recruiting; hiring; employee relations; discipline and terminations; restructurings and redundancies; internal investigations; leaves of absence; compensation compliance; HR policies; independent contractors and contingent workers; mergers and acquisitions and transfers; and restrictive covenant matters.

• Coordinate training and special projects.

• Lead or participate in employment-related compliance initiatives.

• The role may have supervisory responsibility for other lawyers and/or support staff.

What you need to have:

• LLB or equivalent legal qualification

• Senior-level lawyer

• Proven and extensive employment law experience, including employment litigation, with a major law firm or a global organisation

• Significant, broad and general knowledge of all aspects of labour and employment lawSelf-motivated and possess well developed verbal and written communication skills; a high level of analytical ability; significant problem-solving capability; flexibility; and mature independent judgment
