Sobre esta vaga de Senior Delivery Lead - Tech Resilience and Modernisation na NAB

NAB · Híbrido · Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand

Worker Type:

Permanent

Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way."

We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.

We’re looking for a Senior Delivery Lead to join our Technology Delivery team and lead a major stream of complex technology change.

This is a senior delivery leadership role for someone who knows how to take complex, multi-team technology work and turn it into a clear, credible plan and get it delivered.

You’ll sit between the Programme Manager and delivery teams, with accountability for the delivery of your stream. You’ll likely lead Delivery Leads and Business Analysts, work closely with senior business and technology leaders, and manage delivery partners and vendors.

Based in Auckland or Wellington, this is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We sat down with our Head of Technology Delivery and asked what matters most in this role.

What will you actually be doing?

  • Lead complex technology delivery: Own the end-to-end plan, scope, schedule, budget, dependencies and delivery outcomes for a major stream of work. You'll turn programme objectives into an executable plan and maintain control of delivery.
  • Build strong delivery discipline: Bring sound project management practice to the work, including realistic planning, forecasting, governance, dependency management, change control, risk and issue management, and clear reporting.
  • Lead people: Provide direction and leadership to Delivery Leads, Business Analysts and other delivery specialists. Set clear expectations, coach and develop people, and create accountability for outcomes.
  • Manage partners and vendors: Lead delivery relationships with onshore and offshore partners, ensuring commitments, commercials, quality and performance are actively managed rather than simply reported.
  • Manage money and benefits: Own financial management for your stream, including budgeting, forecasting and managing variances, while keeping sight of the benefits and outcomes the investment is intended to deliver.
  • Navigate complexity: Work across multiple technology platforms, business areas and teams, resolving issues and dependencies before they become roadblocks and escalating early when needed.
  • Lift the standard of delivery: Help us continually improve how we plan, govern and deliver technology change. We want someone who brings strong practice, applies it pragmatically and helps others get better at delivery too.

What makes this opportunity exciting?

BNZ has an ambition to be New Zealand’s best bank and to be recognised globally for the experiences and outcomes we create for our customers.

This is an opportunity to lead meaningful, complex technology change while also helping us raise the bar on how we deliver it.

You'll have genuine scope to influence delivery practices, develop other delivery professionals, strengthen relationships with our technology partners and improve the clarity and predictability of delivery across BNZ.

What will success look like?

You will know you're succeeding when:

  • your stream has a clear, credible and actively managed delivery plan
  • leaders understand where delivery stands and can trust the information they receive
  • risks, issues and dependencies are identified and dealt with early
  • budgets and forecasts are well managed
  • vendors and delivery partners are held to clear commitments
  • Delivery Leads and Business Analysts working with you become stronger practitioners
  • teams know what needs to happen next and where accountability sits
  • commitments are met, or emerging problems are surfaced early enough to do something about them.

What experience are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with significant experience leading large, complex technology projects, programmes or major workstreams.

You'll bring:

  • A strong grounding in project and programme management practice, and the judgement to apply it pragmatically rather than mechanically.
  • Experience building and managing integrated delivery plans across multiple teams, platforms and dependencies.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting and management of delivery spend.
  • Experience managing technology vendors, commercial partners and outsourced delivery, including holding partners accountable for performance and commitments.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing delivery professionals.
  • Strong governance, risk, issue, dependency and change-management disciplines.
  • Confidence operating with senior stakeholders and the ability to communicate complex delivery situations simply and honestly.
  • Experience working across both traditional project/programme environments and modern product or agile delivery environments.
  • The ability to move comfortably between the big picture and the detail when delivery needs it.

Financial services experience is useful.

What sort of person will thrive here?

You bring clarity, structure and momentum to complicated situations.

You don't confuse process with progress, but you understand that good delivery requires discipline. You know when to get into the detail and when to step back. You ask the difficult questions early, create accountability without creating bureaucracy, and don't wait for problems to solve themselves.

You build strong relationships while being prepared to challenge constructively.

Most importantly, you know how to get difficult things done through other people.
