Role Summary

Barings is seeking a Senior Business Manager to join the Office of the CEO and provide dedicated business management support across the CFO and COO organizations. This individual will serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leaders, bringing structure, financial discipline, operating cadence and execution rigor to critical business priorities.

The role will connect strategy to execution across two highly interdependent areas. The Senior Business Manager will help leaders shape and advance priorities, evaluate financial and commercial implications, establish effective governance and ensure consistent follow-through across initiatives. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong business judgment, executive presence, financial acumen, and the ability to influence across a highly matrixed organization without formal authority.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Business Management

  • Serve as a trusted business partner to the CFO and COO, helping drive strategic priorities, informed decision-making and effective execution across the business.
  • Manage priorities, operating routines, meeting agendas, decision follow-through, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Prepare concise, executive-ready materials, briefing documents, business updates, talking points, and follow-up summaries.

Strategic Execution

  • Translate strategic priorities into practical execution plans, milestones, owners, and measurable outcomes.
  • Track progress against key initiatives, identify risks or delays, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Bring an enterprise perspective to decision-making by connecting CFO and COO priorities with broader investment, distribution, operations and corporate objectives.

Business Performance and Financial Discipline

  • Partner with CFO and COO leadership to support annual planning and resource allocation processes, helping ensure investments, headcount, and operating spend align with strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with Finance and functional leaders to assess business cases, monitor strategic commitments, and support informed decision-making on key initiatives and resource deployment.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment, accountability and timely execution against agreed priorities.

Operating Cadence and Governance

  • Manage leadership meeting rhythms, business reviews, dashboards, action logs, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Improve consistency, transparency, and decision discipline across CFO and COO priorities.
  • Prepare concise, executive-ready briefings, presentations, business updates, recommendations and talking points for senior leadership and governance forums.

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business management, corporate strategy, chief of staff, operations, financial services, asset management, or a related leadership role, within asset management or financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives and managing complex, cross-functional priorities from strategy through execution.
  • Strong financial acumen, including comfort with budgets, forecasts, business cases, management reporting, and financial controls.
  • Working knowledge of asset management products and the product lifecycle is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Strong executive presence, judgment and discretion, with the confidence to constructively challenge thinking and influence decisions without formal authority.
  • High judgment, discretion, maturity, and confidence operating in sensitive, senior-level environments.
  • Ability to drive outcomes through influence, relationships, and disciplined follow-through.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, CPA or another relevant advanced qualification is preferred.

Success Measures

  • CFO and COO leaders view this individual as a trusted, proactive thought partner who improves decision-making and expands leadership capacity.
  • Improves visibility, accountability, and follow-through on key executive priorities.
  • Strengthens financial discipline through clearer budget, headcount, spend, and business case oversight.
  • Creates consistent operating routines, decision follow-up, and cross-functional coordination.

Why This Role Is Distinctive
