Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Galway Ireland

Type: Permanent - Full time

Summary

We're looking for a hands-on Backend Tech Lead to serve as a technical authority for critical system software—driving architecture, design, and code quality. In this role you'll combine deep engineering skills with technical leadership: solving the hardest programming, performance, and reliability challenges, leading design reviews and technical decisions.

Your contributions will have visible technical impact on our core product—improving time-to-market, driving cost reductions, and satisfying current and future customer needs.

Responsibilities

Technical Design & Development

• Design and develop cutting-edge system software products.

• Drive performance optimization and efficient memory management.

• Develop innovative solutions addressing challenges in virtualization, multithreading, and hardware–software interaction.

• Design and implement robust, scalable solutions for complex challenges.

• Proactively identify bottlenecks in system design and implement scalable solutions.

• Perform in-depth debugging, triaging, and resolution for a variety of issues.
   

Technical Leadership

• Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and decisions on critical system challenges, driving the adoption of innovative solutions and best practices.

• Develop and integrate into complex system.

• Identify and evaluate new technology innovations to ensure alignment with the technology roadmap and business value; create plans for integration into the architecture.
   

Collaboration & Innovation

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on design goals and ensure seamless integration with the system architecture.

• Explore and implement new methodologies fostering continuous improvement and innovation.

• Stay updated on evolving trends in virtualization technologies to bring innovative practices to the team.

• Exhibit flexibility in taking on new or related tasks, showcasing adaptability and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
   

Knowledge and Skills

• In-depth working knowledge and hands-on backend experience.

• At least 10 years Expertise in C#.

• Strong knowledge of Linux and virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM.

• Deep expertise in software systems design, development methodologies, and integration across diverse platforms and technologies.

• Strong ability to innovate and bring fresh approaches to technical challenges.

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset and sharp analytical abilities.

• Exceptional communication skills to effectively present and discuss technical designs, proposals, and solutions with senior management and stakeholders.
   

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

• 7+ years of backend experience
