About the opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and organised Senior Administration Officer to provide administrative and operational support at Sydney Mass Spectrometry (SydneyMS), a core research facility at the University of Sydney.  SydneyMS provides expertise, research services and cutting edge technology for proteomics and metabolomics a wide range of disciplines in medical and life sciences.  Researcher come from across the University as well as for external not-for-profit institutions and from commerce.

In this varied role, you will support the day-to-day operations of the facility by managing researcher onboarding and inductions, coordinating purchasing and invoicing activities, organising seminars and events, and providing general administrative support to researchers and stakeholders.

This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team of 11 people that supports world-class research and innovation.

About you

You are a highly organised administrator with excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. You enjoy working with people, building relationships, and providing high-quality support in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful, you will have:

• Experience in administration, coordination, or office support roles
• Experience with invoicing, purchasing, finance administration, or similar processes
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive, conscientious, and diplomatic approach
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel

Desirable but not essential:

• Experience in a university, research, or scientific environment
• Knowledge of systems such as Sydney FMS (PPMS), UniBuy, or PeopleSoft
• Experience supporting onboarding and induction processes
