Role Description
The Scrum Master is responsible for leading and facilitating Agile delivery across the Woolworths Insurance technology portfolio, ensuring the effective planning, prioritisation and execution of business, regulatory and operational initiatives.
The role works closely with business and technology stakeholders to coordinate delivery activities, manage dependencies and risks, remove impediments, support release readiness and drive continuous improvement across Agile teams.
The Scrum Master is a key enabler of delivery governance, team effectiveness and stakeholder alignment. The role supports predictable, timely and high-quality delivery outcomes within the account’s ongoing DevOps delivery model.
Essential Job Functions
• Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies, including planning, daily team coordination, backlog refinement, reviews and retrospectives.
• Coordinate delivery activities across business, technology, operations and other supporting teams.
• Work with stakeholders and delivery teams to define objectives, scope, priorities, deliverables and expected business outcomes.
• Support the development and maintenance of delivery plans, schedules and release plans.
• Monitor delivery progress and provide clear and timely status reporting to stakeholders.
• Identify, track and support the resolution of delivery risks, issues, dependencies and impediments.
• Support prioritisation of business, regulatory, operational and enhancement initiatives.
• Coordinate release readiness activities and ensure relevant dependencies, approvals and implementation requirements are understood.
• Promote effective Agile practices while adapting delivery approaches to the operational and governance requirements of the account.
• Support resource planning, capacity management and budget monitoring where required.
• Maintain appropriate delivery governance, traceability and reporting across initiatives.
• Facilitate effective communication and alignment between business stakeholders, product owners, technical teams and operational teams.
• Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, delivery reviews and agreed process improvement actions.
• Support the ongoing DevOps delivery model and contribute to improvements in delivery predictability, quality and team effectiveness.
• Participate in cross-functional project and delivery teams as required.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Typically, six or more years of relevant industry experience, including at least two years in a similar project delivery or Scrum Master role.
• Demonstrated experience in Agile delivery, project coordination or project and program management.
• Experience facilitating Agile teams and supporting delivery across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
• Experience managing delivery risks, issues, dependencies and impediments.
• Proficiency in Agile and project management methods, tools and software.
• Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder engagement and organisational skills.
• Ability to operate effectively across business, technology and operational teams.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with relevant industry practices and technology.
Other Qualifications
• Advanced degree in a relevant field is desirable.
• Relevant certifications such as Project Management Professional, PRINCE2, Certified ScrumMaster, Professional Scrum Master or equivalent Agile certification are desirable.
• Experience working in an insurance, financial services or regulated technology environment is desirable.
• Experience supporting DevOps delivery, release governance or operational technology services is desirable.
